Has someone really been banned for calling the welsh sheep shaggers? Blimey...

Anyone who's set foot in wales will know how much they bang on about hating the English. Who hates the welsh? They're alright really. Bit daft and the wimmins are minging, but I can't imagine anyone having strong feelings for them either way.

Also I think everyone hates Cardiff should be playing Barry in the welsh league really

FFS. First time we played them was 1931 and we have been playing them ever since. We have had brilliant games against them. One of our proper rivals. What the hell is wrong with people on this site. They are a team like us, we have history coming out of our ears. Show them some respect will you. And it it's because they are Welsh that you give them stick, get over yourself. Some of the very best HOL posters are Welsh.

I don't think people dislike them because they are Welsh. I don't anyway. Its because they are a Welsh club playing in and enjoying the benefits of an English league.
Its one of the big corner stones for Celtic & Rangers argument that they want to play in the Premiership. I don't think they belong in the English league any more than Cardiff or Swansea do. Makes no difference to me how long they've been in the English league. They are still Welsh in an English league.

It isn't unique to Welsh teams. There are examples around the world of teams playing in a league in a different country. [Link]

I can't see the rules changing although Desperate Tan may try to get Cardiff playing in the Malaysian league

To be fair to the Welsh clubs in our league we must remember that the club that usually win the Welsh league (TNS, formerly Oswestry Town) are based in Oswestry, Salop, England.

Yes.

She looks alright, a bit horsey mind. Spend anytime in Wales and you will soon find quality talent is conspicuous by their absence. In conclusion: rough as f***.

The Welsh aren't a race, so it's somewhat impossible to be racist to them maplestone. Nationalist perhaps but with Wales I see it as being pretty much like Yorkshire, just a big county. I mean it wasn't even a united country until we took it over.

You need to watch yourself vaggie Mapletree is now a mod or he thinks he is as he keeps telling people how to behave on here.

He had a dig at me too the other day

I was right upset I tell thee.

Yeah but you probably deserved it

As I recall he did. And yes, I do think I am a mod. So is everyone. This site is largely self-policing, I am sure if I posted something undeserved Kermit would have come back at me, he has a habit of doing that. Not fair to just leave it all to the Mods, if someone is out of order they should be told before they dig themselves in deeper and get a red card. No idea if Aintree deserved it, I am sure it wasn't just for last night's drunken post.

And yes, you can be racist to the Welsh

[Link]

I reacted last night because there were several people on multiple threads just having a dig generally at the Welsh, as well as specifically at Cardiff, just to be malicious.

And finally, I get really pissed off by people saying that if we are nice to people we are Nigels. In that case for sure I am. When I first starting watching Palace there wasn't fan segregation and it was brilliant. Then the Moan U fans spoiled it for everyone in 1973. From then on the hooligan element took over for a while. But it isn't traditional to have fights between supporters, it was a nasty little blip in our history.

I remember standing on the Holmesdale watching a young teenager in front of me having a razor sharp knife held to his throat by a Millwall fan. I also remember a bloke called Bosco wading into a whole Whitehorse Lane end of Millwall fans on his own (in a clean white jumper, most bizarre). People look back on those days as if they were halcyon, well they weren't. And if anyone implies we should bring them back you can be sure I will react every time.

Sure Bosco is gonna love you for naming him on here.

For the record Mapletree, you are not a mod so you really don't need to minimod. We have plenty of mods here, they don't really need your help short of posting on a thread that it needs to be merged (whilst giving the name of the thread it needs to be merged with).

Secondly, the Welsh are not a race and therefore you can't be racist to them. You can however, be xenophobic towards them irregardless to what I assume is yet another poorly factchecked Torygraph article.

Pretty sure he adopted the celebration after the scathing criticism of his penalty.

On Welsh teams in English Leagues, I respect Cardiff and Swansea for doing it the "hard way".

Its the notion of s***e like Celtic getting a free pass to the EPL that pisses me off. If you want to join, fine - start from the bottom though.

I think, after going into liquidation, Rangers missed a trick not starting fresh in the English Leagues, personally.

Also think the Red Card was harsh. Are we really that hot on racism these days? Was the banning mod welsh?

1.1Prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one’s own race is superior:

Thats from the Oxford English Dictionary.

The quote you provided says it all though to be honest. To me thats saying 'We're allowing the term racism to mean from a race or a nationality' i.e. they're ceding that their definition is incorrect.

Calling the welsh sheep shaggers is not remotely racist. It's boring and witless, but it's the same as calling the scots haggis munchers or northerners whippet owners. Real racism is vile, insidious and hateful. I wish people weren't so quick to throw the term round at something vaguely un PC.

From reading the article on the cps site I think the legal definition would include the possibility of being racist towards people from Wales, England, Scotland, Northern Ireland etc.
