On paper Fulham have the best chance of all of the bottom three of getting out of trouble if you look at the remaining fixtures. Cardiff are doomed by virtue of being appalling (their defending yesterday would get taken advantage of in the Championship) and Sunderland have the joint problems of being unable to score goals and having a really difficult run in, so I'd say they're doomed too. The third team to drop will become more apparent over the next couple of match weekends. I think another win should probably do it, but it'd be nice to get 4/5 more and be 100% safe before going to Craven Cottage on the last day. On form and run-in, you'd say Norwich look favourites to drop, but you can't second guess this league at all this year.

It is more likely that the poster on here who crazily predicted we'd end up with 50pts back in August will be proven correct than us getting relegated.

We are safe. Even if we lose the next 6 games which we won't.

Sit back. Relax.

...I quite agree, the way we set up to play makes us the last team anybody wants to play.

.......has our coach driver done a Poo'yet, without thinking about Gus!

I'd wish you'd tense up a bit Kermy.....The Scottish are meant to be tight.

Still, to your credit you have been claiming that we will survive for quite a bit now.

It's looking more likely now.....I didn't think we would so I'll be as happy as Larry to be wrong.

Sorry to be negative but we must get behind the team more than ever now. Selhurst next week needs to be a fortress of sound. I remember vividly the lap of honour the palace side in 1993 did after beating Ipswich at home. That day we thought we were safe. The only team who could drag us down were Oldham and they had Villa (still in the title race at that time) Liverpool and Southampton to play and had to win them all. And guess what?! They bloody did!

Until that fat lady sings we cannot allow complacency to kick us in the nuts!

Mathematically we are not yet safe and professionals should fight to the very end until that is confirmed. But WE are not the professionals. We are the fans that are supposed to try to enjoy this as much as possible so I for one will not be looking to take negatives from a massive positive like you.
In my opinion if we beat Villa next week we are safe. In my opinion we only need 3 more points in view of not just the points lead we have but the games that Sunderland and Norwich still have left, that the West Brom & Fulham managers don't really know this league like Pulis does and in view of the fact that Cardiff seem to now be playing like a confidence sapped relegated team.
We will stay up now, I have no doubt. And that attitude is not cockiness, its sheer belief and will do nothing to erode the atmosphere next Saturday.

This occured to me on drive home from Cardiff today.

Still remember that last day of the season at Highbury when Wright scored. Back then listening to a radio on the terrace. If I remember right Oldham went 4-1 up, then it was 4-3, we were all praying Southampton to score.

We are not safe yet but taken big steps in the right direction. Another couple of wins needed to be sure

I was there and remember it well......i'm not counting my chickens just yet!

The big difference between then and now was that it was more of a level playing field and the gaps in quality between the top and bottom less so against the odds results more common.

Lightning won't strike twice.

I have been confident for a while because of the distinct lack of disharmony and the obvious all in it together atmosphere. That sense of unity is worth it's weight in points gold.

Back in 2004/5 we had the Routledge contract issue seemingly taking up a disproportionate amount of time and Dowie's focus. I truly believe that cost us in the end.

We have had no distraction comparable since Millen and then Pulis took the reins.

There are better player for player squads about to get relegated ahead of us. The whole club and us fans should be very proud of that indeed.

Good post Kermit.
Millen took us back to Basics with the the bulk of last years Team playing.
Pulis has tweaked it but has also continued with 6/7 of last years lads.
Now the difficult part starts of making our starting 11 better.

Yes Alan indeed. The really difficult part now is getting a squad ready for next season that will not only encapsulate the spirit but increase the quality by at least 25 per cent so we can try and follow in Southampton's footsteps.

The correct transfers over summer will be incredibly vital to that. I just hope Wilf is not brought back for sentimental reasons rather that TP thinks he really can improve us.

I have my doubts about that tbh.

It ain't over till it's over. Every chance we could screw up against Villa, who will be scrapping for their lives. If that happens, it's hard to imagine where we'll get any additional points we need to counter a late run of results by one of our rivals. Certainly don't want to go to Fulham with anything still at stake...

Well I did not expect 6 against Chelsea and Cardiff.
6 Games left to get some more.
We will give anybody a good game at the moment.
We are very difficult to beat.
