Can't bring myself to thank the bloke. Absolute disaster of a manager for us bar the two good play-off performances. The fact is we only reached the playoffs as we already had the points on the board before he arrived. His signings were generally poor and we were fast becoming the laughing stock of the Premier League. Comes across as a decent bloke and walking away was the honourable thing to do but I can't thank him for mess he left behind.

What, 20 points from DF and about 6 from Lennie Lawrence? You need 73 ish to make the play offs and we stayed in the top 6 all season.

His January signings were good ones that actually made a big difference. KP and Dobbie. Dobbie ended up costing a lot but it was either keep him if not promoted after paying for him, or losing money on him after scoping £60mil TV money and £60mil parachute money at worst.

Of the 14 Prem transfer signings, half of them were good ones. Mariappa, Chamakh, Jerome, Puncheon, Bannan, Guediora, one other I think. The other half were poor. If it was that sh1t, TP wouldn't have taken us on. TP knew the core was decent, but we were light in having to shift Ward around and being vulnerable at CB and any injuries to Puncheon or Bolasie.

Some people seriously need to wake up to the fact that if we didn't have:

Parish & 2010, PH & DF, DF & LL, LL, IH & KM, KM, TP & KM,

in that exact order we wouldn't be where we are today, we'd be mid-table Championship with the 14th biggest revenue and 14th highest pwage budget and annual losses of £4mil- £5mil.

They all played their part (ahem, some will believe more than others). We've been very fortunate all the people here have been here at the right time for when we needed them, and 2010 have made calculated decisions whilst also listening to opinions. All too often you get owners having a misty eyed view of who they want to be manager and get it badly wrong with impulsive choices.

Nowt against the man.... But - I can't help but think we won the playoffs in spite of him not because of him. I believe he lost the dressing room long before the playoff semis. He admitted himself on that fateful night at Brighton in the second leg he didn't have to fire the players up and, due to poogate, actually had to try and calm them down... Look at the pitch side interviews after that game. Sky we're getting interviews with speroni and Zaha and just look at their faces when he butted in! They both had looks of contempt for the man.

Then you look at his signings and those first games in the prem; at no point did he know his best team or the best tactics to suit the 11 he put out.

I thought he was a great appointment after the disappointment of freedman walking out. It just didn't work out for him and I don't think it was for the want of trying. Think he genuinely wanted what's best for the club which culminated in him stepping aside.

It's all in the past now. Let's all just be happy where we are; another chance to establish the club in the top flight and rake in all that money that comes with it which will surely save our club in the longterm...

You can discuss forever how good/bad Holloway was, inherited squad, previous form, Freedman's legacy etc etc.
To me, Holloway will be remembered for turning over the Weed in the playoffs and being in charge when we were promoted to the Premiership.
Top man!

I find it a bit strange that people can't at least thank him for playing a part in winning promotion. Yes, his record was poor, and yes he almost f**ked it up! but he didn't. He got us into the play offs, and then helped us beat Brighton 2-0 at the Amex, and then Watford in the play off final. People will argue they were only 2 games, but they were so important, and he played a big part in winning them. He then also had the class to step down when he knew he wouldn't be able to keep us up. Imagine if he had tried to carry on. Where would we be now? And as soon as he resigned, his first recommendation was Pulis.

IMO, he deserves great credit for playing a big role in getting the club where we are today (obviously not as big as Pulis). For that I will always be grateful for what Holloway has done for this club.

We were pretty poor under Oliie generally which was disappointing after how well we had been playing up until his arrival. Wilf was average from January up until the play-offs too under his management.

But..in the end he did what had been asked of him. Promotion.

Parish/CPFC2010 would not have sacked him and he would still be in charge today if he hadn't admitted he was the wrong man for The Prem survival job.

In the end - although his record game by game was poor - he achieved and his CV will say that too.

To be honest, there's not many people that would hold their hands up and say "I haven't got this in me".

Particularly if they were standing in front of Cucking when they said it.

Can we stop all this Holloway arse licking. I don't believe for one minute he was going to stay either he left or Parish sacked him he was gone after the Fulham game and he knew it. Fact is the promotion under him pretty much covers up the fact he was a failure and on par with George Burley at how delusional and tactically inept he was.

Yes - like outhinking Poyet and Zola in the playoffs!!

Why can't you just acknowledge the contribution made by so many, including those no longer here like Holloway, Freedman, Ramage, Phillips.

This is the time to celebrate not vilify!

I am not being funny but Zola and Poyet are tactically inept as well we just had Zaha that day.

I find it hard to believe that 3 teams could have managed to get into the play offs with tactically inept managers......

Its so disappointing to see some of the abuse IH gets on the forums, and so disrespectful when he is called a clown.

He came in after one of the most popular Palace managers in years had left us high and dry, including ripping out the back room team and taking them with him. But IH still got us into the playoffs.

Even most of his critics then accept he got the play-offs tactically spot-on to get us promotion.

He then admitted to being out of his depth in the PL, and stood down. He could have carried on picking up his wages until he would of no doubt be fired around Xmas time, by which time no one could have kept us up.

And finally he actually recommended TP for the job, and that has turned out to be a great recommendation.

In his short time at the club, IH did a lot of good and certainly played his part in the clubs progress.

We had the better teams mate. That's why, Bloom had invested in expensive higher end championship players. Watford had players from one of Italy's better sides and we had Wilf, Ward, Yannick, Muzza and Jedi. All of which came from Dougie. Ultimately he did what was asked of him but the fact is he is a s***e overrated manager who uses the same bulls*** excuses at every club he goes to when things go wrong, Which is all the time.
