If we play a similar system to this year then we will effectively play with 6 defensive players. Our 'back 6' contribute very few goals so our front 4 need to score most of the goals. We are not going to afford a 20+ goal striker so all our front 4 need to contribute about 10 goals each. Chamakh and Puncheon are capable of that but for all his undoubted talent will Yala score many? I think it is unlikely so for me, whilst he may have had a good season he will need to be an impact sub next year. Ince looks like he might be an adequate 10 goal replacement.
The striker role in our system is an interesting one. Expecting to be shot down on here, if Fulham go down I would look at Roddiegga?? as a Jerome replacement who will score 10 goals a year. Suspect we could afford him.

Can't we just spend a couple of million on shooting lessons for Jerome. If the man could score he'd be dynamite.

Personally think we need to look at holland, Germany and Spain, always a rough diamond to be had and with the French tax law at 70% you can quite see why we've got a good chance of nabbing a decent player. I'd like to see routledge back at the palace, a player like bony is what we need.

If a player is banging in the goals in any of the major leagues then the big boys will be in for them. We may have to look at the French, Dutch, Turkish or hidden talent in the Belgian leagues to compete for someone close to Wilfried Bony or Benteke's level.

We will be in our second season of top flight football. We have a solid foundation and if we add some serious firepower then we should be thinking about being in this leagues for three years and many more beyond that.

People banging on about us not being able to afford this or that transfer fee or such and such wages need to start to look further ahead. Of course we are not going to be getting one hundred thousand pounds a week players and signing them for fifty million. However we will be in a position to spend circa ten million for the right player and pay him close to fifty thousand a week.

The only player in the U.K that may come to us in the above bracket is Jordan Rhodes. This guy will most certainly make it at the top level and is exactly the type of player that would do well in our system. I believe he is on thirty thousand a week at Blackburn and that they have offered him a new contract worth forty-five thousand a week.

Blackburn are gambling heavily that they go up next season - for them the Premier League money stops after next season (it only ran for three years when they were relegated). However, it is now time for Rhodes to prove his worth in the top flight.

Were we able to do a part exchange with Gayle then even better. Alternatively loan them Gayle for the season depending on whether TP sees a future for the lad here at Selhurst.

As we all seem to agree - we need more goals next year - the question is who do we sign?

It is clear that the gulf between Championship and Premiership when it comes to scoring golas is huge.

So where do we look? I suggest having a look at Italy, where the defences are historically strong - if you can score there then the chances are that you are a good striker.

Do not rely on a pair of Golas or anyone wearing Golas to score goals for us. And an Italian wouldn't be seen in the same shop or room as a pair of Golas.

We could get that geezer who's gonna work with England at the World Cup. Pay him half a million to do one to one sessions with him and with a bit of luck he'll be like Roy of the Rovers
