On the contrary, I'm not dreading this window at all. Last two windows, we were dealing from a position of weakness; likely relegation candidates, newly promoted team, everything uncertain. We'll go into this window secure in the Premiership, a London team (with all the attractions of playing in the capital), possibly led by manager of the year, widely recognised as having the best supporters in the country, on the up generally, and with at least one Champions League player (Ledley) having already signed up.

The last two windows we were the poor man trying to persuade our betters to take a shot on Palace. While we may never be Big Five, this time around we have a very persuasive pitch for targets we are interested in and you may well find we're suddenly the choosers and not the beggars. Twelve months ago any mid-table team (Stoke, WBA, Norwich, Fulham, even Southampton) were better options than Palace. Not so sure that will be true come three weeks time.

Agree with all this. I am sure TP already has a list of top wants.

I think it is important to remember also, that just because we've secured a 2nd season in The Premiership, don't expect CPFC2010 to start paying over the odds to clubs for players.

We all know they will not be ripped off. That will not change this season. If a Championship club wants to put an over inflated price on a player, don't expect us to pay it just because we can. That's not being tight. As always, it's about the long term future of the club and being sensible just the same as you wouldn't allow yourself to be ripped off if you went shopping for a car.

Lets hope fans do not get there knickers in a twist when we pull the plug on a deal, because we see a player only worth £3m and the selling club want £5m. It would be ridiculous and negligent to be any different.

Remember, there is also 2nd season syndrome in The Premiership so we are by no means able to mix it with the big boys yet.

We will be an attractive proposition now. Some of our targets would have played at Selhurst this year and the atmosphere would not have been lost on them. Plus we have an experienced quality manager who with his record we would be unlikely to be in a relegation scrap and also our style of football. Although TP is our boss we play great counter attacking football which proves he has more than one string to his bow. If we can afford the wages i'm sure players will be choosing us over others

True SS but we do have the strongest hand, in this regard, that we have had in a very long time.

I'm actually looking forward to the window and the fact that it won't be a desperate scrap for whoever we can get. Financially we're in a position to make sensible offers for decent players and we're an attractive proposition for a certain level of player. Plus we will really see what sort of team Pulis is going to shape us into.

Don't think there will be as much hysterics on here than previously.
We have a fairly decent competitive side. We only need to add a bit of strength and cover in a few positions.
Holloway was clueless in the transfer market but Tony Pulis has already proved that the players he brings in will work to his ethics and fit in with the team. Dann and Ledley came in as if they have been here for years.
We definatly need to trim the squad. Far too many players picking up wages with no chance of playing.

Agree with this. We now know that Tony can getting the team going as it is now so there shouldn't be any desperation to get players in. Also I know Tony Pulis likes to get players in early....something we seem adverse to doing!

As long as we finally get Yaya Banana over the line, I'm happy.

No doubt we'll slip up on this....

I get the feeling we'll be posing players this type of question via the agents,

"We've agreed the transfer fee. If your client wants to take our offer of £25k-£30k per week to work under an experienced Tony Pulis with a proven Prem League track record to stablise his Premier League career, we'll waste no more precious time. If he feels he wants to earn more and risk his Prem career elsewhere or possibly not play as often then let us know asap so we can make a similar offer elsewhere."

He no doubt had a longer list than Hennessey, Dann, Ledley and Ince and had we the finances we'd have got them in. He'll therefore be exploring them or similar to them as well as some others he's noticed or is starting to. I'm sure most of his prospects he knows plenty about already, or will do asap. *------

If anything this year has shown that the greatest strength a manager can have is to obtain more out his current set of players than to scout and buy new players.

Think back to last june and who would have though the players we currently have could be performing at their current level.

We need a top striker and a LB then the rest could easily just be squad players.
