John McCormick and Roger Hynd (not that they played too many times together) have to agree they would be terrifying. Looked like a couple of All Black Second Rows (just a little bit too short)

Tell you one thing; With McCormick, Sewell, John Jackson and Mel Blyth at the back, not many took liberties on set pieces into our penalty area in those days.

Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God.

Micky Droy was the toughest for me from a very tough bunch

Fave memory was playing Millwall and after some argy bargy in the box, self styled hard man John Fashanu elbowed Droy up around the throat as hard as he could

Big Micky didn't even flinch and then with one hefty punch dropped Fash the Gash on his arse and started to walk to the tunnel before the ref could even get the card out

Claude Davis & Claude Davis

I was going to say Claude Davis.

How about Claude Davis and Paddy McCarthy if giving away penalties and getting booked is a measure of a 'hard' defender?
