Mr Farage wrote in his autobiography published in March: 的t is frankly just not credible for me to continue to lead the party without a Westminster seat. What credibility would Ukip have in the Commons if others had to enunciate party policy in Parliament and the party leader was only allowed in as a guest?"

Based on the above it would appear that he will not stand in the forthcoming leadership contest.

On reflection, I have a feeling he will.
He is the very embodiment of UKIP and without him at the helm I think they could fast disappear into an irrelevance.Carswell has ruled himself out and I don't think the current caretaker Suzanne Evans will strike a chord with the electorate.

Of course he will, his 'if I don't win i'm off' scenario yesterday turned into ' I am off on a long holiday now but will consider standing when I get back'. So let's be honest it's only one more step to 'people have convinced me that for the good of the party and my country I have deceided to offer myself... '

I know a certain keyboard warrior that I am surprised has never had a red card in that case, as when angry I can't believe he lasts more than 30 seconds. Perhaps it is when the recipient takes umbrage.

The other thing I can't stand is people having multiple live accounts.

Not saying any more 'cause' discussing a yellow may mean a yellow.

This. He'll have that holiday he's been talking about and will take part in the next leadership contest. He's the natural leader of the party really. People people think UKIP they think Farage.

Believe UKIP peaked too early - as have other 'new' parties in the past (SDP) - for the general election and by the next - in 2020 - we should have had the promised EU referendum and will either be on our way out - or staying in long term. They will be irrelevant by then.

What stands out for me, and seems to pass some by, is that it wasn't primarily 'the left' that tried to do them in. From reading the Sun and Daily Mail it was apparent that there was a relentless attack on both UKIP and Labour, as they were both seen as a threat to the Tories. Labour on account that they could get into government and UKIP based on the thought that they might 'split the Tory vote'. A point Nigel himself addressed.

Papers aren't faced with the same scrutiny as broadcasters, hence how The Sun's first ten+ pages were relentlessly anti Labour and to a lesser extent anti UKIP the last couple of days before voting..

I really loathe this lot but it does seem crazy that they're the third biggest party in terms of percentage of votes and yet only have one MP. It just goes to show how screwy the system is.

And I see signs of half remembered days, I hear bells that chime in strange familiar ways

You're bang on, but we've got no hope of changing the system within the near future.
