It's a difficult one. Pulis maybe had a negative opinion of Jules before he arrived - this has probably since been changed, but in the meantime Hennessey has been signed. I think in case we dropped down to The Championship and we couldn't afford to have both.

However that is not the scenario, and Hennessey is not Premiership quality in my opinion (from seeing him at Wolves)and I'd be very surprised if he is the one to replace Jules as no.1 next season.

On the other hand Jules will be 35 by the time next season kicks off. I think we'll be signing a top young keeper in the summer (a Jack Butland perhaps?)as our new number one, Jules will be on the bench and Hennessey will be loaned out/sold to a Championship club.

I do not believe we signed Hennessey to replace Jules in The Premiership.

Pulis did not plan for relegation. Not a chance.

Totally agree. Not in the man's DNA.

Calling danny h: Did you get any good pix of the lap of honour?

If so, can you post them for all to see?

I took a couple, the one attached is heavily cropped and shows a disconsolate Jools being comforted by Jedi.
This wasn't on the lap of honour, it was as they all left the field after the game. There's another one on the next mail. Sorry the quality isn't great, that's Samsung for you.

Incidentally, I meant to say, if this was Julian's last game, or last home game, it's a disgrace.

He's had the season of his life, and all those 1-0 wins and clean sheets didn't happen by chance. Hennessey may be good but he wasn't good enough to be a regular in a Wolves team relegated 2 years running.

I back Pulis in most areas (youth development, anyone?), but if he seriously thinks Hennessey is a better bet then he is misguided.

He doesn't.
He does not rate Alexander or Price that's why Hennessey is here.
Jules contract has not expired yet.

£3m is a lot to pay for a reserve.

Will be gutted if Speroni leaves.

Best keeper I have seen for us (including Martyn)

You can't promise someone a place. It should be picked on merit, not potential. I hope it's proved wrong too

Speroni IS there on merit. And I also believe that, for a player like him, you CAN promise a place. Obviously, you can't promise that place won't be up for competition but, at only 34, Speroni must still be considered Number One in the absence of someone else who is as special and experienced.

I would have rather us get relegated and keep Jules than see him leave. Just seems madness after the season he's had! He HAS to stay!

Quote KB at 06 May 2014 4.15pm

I've heard rumours that Hennessey has been told he can play in goal against fulham. I've heard from the same source that Speroni has signed a new contract, but also that when Hennessey signed he was told he'd be number 1 next year.

If that's true it's a disgrace. Jules has been immense this season and has done nothing to warrant losing his place. It would take the shine off what's been the best season for a very long time if Jules is treated badly and doesn't get to play in the last game, or is replaced as no. 1 next season for no reason.

Sincerely hope this rumour is rubbish.

I do indeed hope all this is rubbish!. While I have every admiration for the managerial ability Pulis has and the tremendous miracle he has worked at Selhurst, I do believe he is probably a very strong character with inflexible ideas of his own. As a consequence, when he makes up his mind about something I reckon it would be impossible to deter him so if he has paid three million quid for Hennessey its more than likely Jules is not going to get much of an offer from The Palace. I do question the decision to bring Hennessey to The Palace principally because I believe the money would have been better spent on somebody up front as we were not in dire need of a replacement for Jules. I suppose we can never read other peoples minds and for the life of me I do not understand this arrangement.

Seeing speroni turn out for another team after bring released after such a superb season, wd be utterly unthinkable. If we let him go then frankly I'm disgusted.
