Seeing speroni turn out for another team after bring released after such a superb season, wd be utterly unthinkable. If we let him go then frankly I'm disgusted.

I would be totally gutted!.

I would have rather us get relegated and keep Jules than see him leave. Just seems madness after the season he's had! He HAS to stay!

Even though we have defended brilliantly this season. we have still had to rely on Jules to make plenty of match winning saves. Can Hennesey make these saves?

suppose we should all trust the judgement of TP on this one...i love jules as much as the next fan but hennessey is quality, and if he replaces jules next season he is just as good

Thanks PalacePhotoMan for posting those post-match pix. Excellent!

Speroni is great, but doesn't Wayne Hennessy deserve a chance?

I fear all this Jules adulation is putting WH under
colossal pressure. Who's to say he isn't a top keeper (he cost £3-million) and a great bloke?

When he is better than Jules he does and not before.

If he were better TP would have played him months ago.

Some posters on this thread seem to think Jules is worthy of his place on the basis of his niceness as well as his shot-stopping skills.

On that argument, Mother Teresa would have been the best 'keeper of all time.

Perhaps Jules is too much of a good bloke.

The Spanish say you have to have some sour milk - ie a streak of nastiness - in your personality to excel at sport.

Seem to recall reading that John Burridge enjoyed treading on the toes of opponents who encroached into his goal area - and, on one occasion, made Ossie Ardiles squeal in pain.

Can't see Jules ever doing that.

Have a feeling that the Wayne Hennessy approach would be far more robust

I am not in a position to say whether Hennessy is a better keeper or not, either now or in the future.

But he will be a better keeper from learning from Jules. Shilton learnt from Banks as his No 2 and competition is a great motivator so lets embrace them both and let the boss decide if and when there needs to be a handover.

Unfortunately it looks like Jules has taken the decision to leave Palace. If that means he turns out for another club, presumably from the lower reaches of the league, I for one will wish him luck and contribute to a golden handshake. He has become as big a legend as John Stonewall Jackson and deserves our gratitude whatever or wherever he deems to do and go. Good luck Jules and thanks for the memories.

Jules has been an absolute servant through highs and lows. Always gives 100% and loves the club. He will be offered a new deal but he has to decide if he wants to stay as a possible no2 next season or move on. I for 1, think he will stay and fight for his place. He has too much down here to uproot and move elsewhere, especially this late in his career. I think he was just overwhelmed by the support given to him last night, having the whole stadium show you that much love can't be easy to take it, especially after a euphoric match like that.

I think he will stay and end his career with us, then move into the coaching staff. It will take a lot to move him IMO.

From the way some people are reacting, you would think Speroni should have been included in the Papal Canonzation the other week.

Yes he's been a great servant to us and has made some excellent saves of late, but he's also made a number of errors (as one would expect). Hennessey will no doubt do likewise but let's give him a chance.
