Not just saying this cos of the outcome, but I've always rated Mark Clattenburg. Definitely one of the better ones. Howard Webb would have ensured we lost 10-0.

Decided it was probably a penalty after a few rewatches, but the ref doesn't have that option, and it did look like Glen Johnson was going down before contact was made (and in real time the contact looked very minimal).

It wasnt a penalty because the kick didnt cause him to fall to the ground and the ball was almost in Speronis hands when it was made. It was however a big call as you see them being given all the time.

Gotta say I think Clattenberg is probably the best ref at the moment; the game he reffed in Europe the other day Benfica vs Juve he was excellent in.

On another day we could've quite easily conceeded 3 pens (Bolasie on Johnson, Dann on Suarez and the challenge on Gerrard in our box before the counter for our 2nd goal).

If they'd been the other way around we'd be moaning and feeling a little hard done by. On the other hand, Ledley was fouled by Allen leading up to there 1st goal so maybe he was evening things up.

Was at the match but haven't seen it on TV since (only goals).

I felt Clattenburg had a good match. Let it flow well. I was really pleased in the way he allowed physical challenges where I think he felt a player went down to easy. I'm sure if Webb was the referee he would of blown his whistle.

Was surprised that five minutes was added for ET.

Haven't seen any interviews with the two managers. Did they have any complaints about decisions made/not made?

best thing he did was book Suarez for diving- he'd had a word with Gerrard about it earlier too.

With reference to our second goal, did you hear the comments of the Sky presenters in the studio that the defender should have taken one for the team and taken Bolasie out as he would not have been sent off as it was not a goal scoring opportunity as we know it, well just goes to show how wrong that phrase can be. With a break at that speed the ball ended up in their net from that move. We would have ended up with just a free kick in the centre.

I would have been impressed if Johnson had got anywhere near him, and he might have been sent off for dangerous play anyway

I didn't see him then, all I saw was the acres of space Bolasie had to run into with the ball. Enough to park a couple of buses.

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure he was booked for dissent, not diving.

If it was for diving he would have blown his whistle for our ball and booked him straight away.

This was a good 30 seconds after the incident.
