Chamakh is a big time Charlie who won't graft, will swan around the pitch as if he owns it and won't fit in at Palace.

Oh dear, how wrong could I be?!

Really hope he stays!

You are not alone in being wrong about him. I wouldn't say I went as far as you did but I did not believe he would really put in a shift and did not feel he had the character to come through when the chips are down.
I'm happy to admit I was wrong about his attitude as well as his commitment and application. I hope he ends up signing on for another couple of years. And gets his hair cut!

Really hope he stays, credit to Holloway for signing the man. Has had an impact this year and a noteworthy contributor to our survival

Got some good tricks too. I love the way he takes the ball and wrong-foots defenders as he dinks it past them.

I hope we can find a way to keep him wages-wise. With Dwight continuing to improve, GM getting back to fitness with a pre-season and CJ's tireless work (would like to see a few more goals) we migt be in good shape up top next season.

Would break my heart to see Palace spend on a big name striker and end up with a Wolfswinkel or a Soldado.

Would rather see £10m go into the academy.

theres more chance of signing Messi and Ronaldo

I remember Holloway saying that his deal was for more than one year if we stay up. So I presume his contract will automatically roll on for next season...

I think we signed him for 12 months with the option of another 12 on top. It's obviously down to the player and what he wants to do; Arsenal have, so the story goes, been paying a percentage of his wages this season but it's unclear if that arrangement will carry on for another year. He's meant to be on lumpy wages (£60k pw has been bandied about) which might be an obstacle. I'm not sure anyone else would be willing to match that (some in the French League, perhaps) so, if he wants to stay, he's going to have to take a pretty hefty wage cut.

Let's hope a deal can be done - he's a quality player and it'd be unfortunate to lose him.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

i noticed watching the higlights that when Gayle scored our second the camera showed our bench. it showed pulis going mental aa usual and our subs standing up and clapping but Chamakh was jumping around and celebrating like a fan. he absolutely loves it here and im so pleased that he has performed so well and put all the pundits and some fans wrong. Well done Cham

I must agree he has turned out much better than probably most expected and I too hope he resigns.

Resign? Why should he, he's done nothing wrong!

Yes, I think I posted on another thread how I noticed Cham doing a delighted little jig after the final whistle against Villa.

I also recall after Bolasie had run rings round the WBA defense to set up Cham for the 2nd goal in the FA Cup tie at West Brom, how he gestured to the Palace fans behind the goal, by pointing to Bolasie, that it was he ( i.e. Bolasie) who should take credit for the goal.

Not the signs of a selfish player.

He seems to have at last found a niche in English football where he feels comfortable and appreciated.

Let's hope that means he wants to stay enough to accept a more realistic wage if it's true he's on £65k pw.

He has really made us tick this season and provided a bit if much needed cutting edge. He must have loved playing for us after how things went at west ham. Surely he'll want to stay, and surely the club will offer him an acceptable deal.
