I seriously considered Clint Hill, Danny Butts & Aki but i don't regard them as unsung. I think the vast majority of Palace fans gave them the appreciation they deserved.

Some great calls - Vaessan was superb yet we never talk about him.

John 'yogi' Hughes. Beast of a centre forward. Jerome but with goals. Another good call.

Quote PalacePhotoMan at 17 Nov 2014 9.47pm

Ian Edwards scored the goal v Burnley that stopped us going down, not McCulloch.

Adrian B mentioned someone called Len Dawkins. Not sure who that was, maybe Len Tomkins or Trevor Dawkins.
And not sure either of those was unsung, just unseen most of the time.

Richard Shaw's a great shout.
Clint Hill.
John McCormick.
Kevin Taylor.
Simon Rodger.

Yea, it was Trevor D. My memory.....

Andre Moritz
Walter Del Rio
Fernando De Ornelas
Jose Rodrigues Alves Antunes
Ivan Kaviedes

Well this is just mentioning past players for the sake of it. Only elephant supporters will recall most and delusionist will think of anything they did that would grant them a place among the haloed here. Maybe Moritz, though a bit of a woman in strength!

I never though Ninja got the recognition he deserved. Or Popovic. Both were immense for Palace on a regular basis. Sadly for them they lived/played in the shadow of Bright, Wright, Thomas, Gray, Aki, AJ, Morrison respectively.

Perry Suckling
Paul "Doris" Hinshelwood
Hayden Mullins
Andy Linighan
Kevin Mabbutt

I don't think Hayden Mullins was under-rated by anybody at the club...he was superb.

Not been appreciated as much as they should have been.

5)Andy McCulloch

Mate,,,,,I remember him as being awful, scored a lot of goals for Sheffield Wed didn't he? But was well passed his sell by date when he came to us, if memory serves me right anyway!!!

I'll go with......

Kevin 'Ticker' Taylor (good call JB)
Michael Hughes
Clint Hill
Kevin Mabbutt
Gavin Nebbeling

Nebbeling is a good shout. McCulloch scored the goal v Burnley in '83 that stopped us being relegated to the third tier and was no way near as bad as forwards like Langley and Giles. Mabbutt was appreciated by many and still is I feel. Super silky skills.

Edit: turns out I meant Ian Edwards not McCulloch. Doh!

Edited by Kermit8 (17 Nov 2014 10.55pm)

Yes it was Edwards mate, I've still got a newspaper cutting of him celebrating.
We had quite a few crap strikers in that era and I think Mabbutt scored something like 8 goals one season and we thought he was a super star, I make you right, he was one of our better players back then so maybe 'unsung hero' doesn't describe him, he was pretty popular.

Remember Chris Jones and Tony Brown as well??? They were pretty awful as well as Langley and Giles!!

Did Gusset really mention Tom Soares?? He wasn't unsung he was un-talented. Can't believe we managed to sell him.
