I've been out and about today and gone past 3 depots where the bus w***ers (Unite) are on strike.

At each site there was a police car, with police officers sitting in it, watching nothing happen.

I do hope they're being made to pay the costs in a similar vein that football clubs are forcibly charged for it, whether they want them or not.

Optimistic as ever

Sorry to crush your hope, but they are not.

I saw quite a lot of buses running today in the Croydon area. Had forgotten there was a strike!

Of course they aren't. Like all union actions, they only further drain public resources.

They seem to have too, was more of a BBQ than a picket.

Why do you hope for things that you know to be untrue? Wierd.

I support the strike even though I rely on the bus and will have to walk home

It's silly that some bus drivers get more working for a different bus company than others, they all do the same job, I think they do a sterling yet unrewarding job, keeping London moving.

According to TFL, it was Unite that negotiated different pay deals with the bus companies so they are largely to blame

Indeed there is - their union f'ed it up, so the union calls them out on strike for parity and once again the poor old paying public have to suffer!

So what if they get different rates from different companies - I' pretty sure that a legal clerk in a small firm of solicitors doesn't expect to get exactly the same as a fellow clerk working for a major international partnership, so why should it be different for bus drivers?

If they don't like the rates, go work for a rival, better-paying company - that way the company is hit by the loss of staff and will have to adjust it's rates to match it's competitors. Doesn't need another bloody union strike to achieve it!
