Also, rumour has it that Fonte is the reason that Pards lost his job at Soton. If anyone with a fresher memeory would care to elaborate on the reason then please remind me

More to do with Mrs Fonte...if memory serves me!

Oh yes! That was it.

Think Rhodes would be a poor signing given what we have and his £10m+ price tag.

A striker, CB and GK seem clear. What about a quality well rounded CM? I reckon in the last 5 or 6 games, when all our midfielders are fit and off suspension, we'll see who Pardew really likes in midfield.

I don't think that's clear at all. There's every chance Hennessy has the goods to become our #1.

Could probably do with another striker and CB, althoughDann, Kelly and (imo) Mariappa are young, decent options at CB. And Gayle, Chamakh and Murray (one year left i reckon) have the goods up front.

What positions would you strengthen then? I think its quite clear we need a regular, consistent goalscorer if we want to kick on in the PL.

4 in the summer for me.

Jordan Rhodes - Cash + Murray. Would love Murray to stay but the reality is , if we stay up we need to move on to the next level. Rhodes would be an upgrade. Unproven at Premiership level, but worth a shout in my opinion.

Jose Fonte - Worth a shot? Good experience to go alongside Dann. Pardew knows him well as we all do and Southampton could well be in a position to sell and be themselves looking to upgrade in that position. Dann - Fonte would be a realistic and excellent 1st choice defensive partnership.

Tyrone Mings - Unlikely with bigger clubs probably sniffing around but we still need another LB in my opinion. Verdict is still out on Souare and with Fryers clearly not up to this level, establishing yourself in The Prem means at least 2 quality players in competition for the same position.

Jack Butland - Young and already has Premiership and National experience. Not getting regular football at Stoke and I think is well capable of going straight into the team. Would be a very similar signing to Nigel Martyn when we signed him in terms of age and experience. I would suspect Hennessey would move on if we did sign a keeper of Butland's stature and if so I would be more than happy as Jules being back up for one more season before he maybe becomes a coach at the club. I just don't believe that either Jules or Hennessey are good enough to be our number 1 next season and take us to the next level.

Gestede and keep Murray. Rhodes isn't better than anything we already have.

Fonte - he's their Captain isn't he? Also they are going to be in Europe next year so he won't want to go and they won't want to lose him. Also why would we replace a 33 year old CB for a 31 year old CB. We need to be spending between £7-10m here on someone who's 25-28yr old.

Mings would be a good shout if Ipswitch don't come up and we get him for about £5m.

If, IF we stay up then we need a CB as good or better than Scott Dann to play alongside Scott Dan.

Two forwards - if we are splashing the cash, then Remy and Austin and I would wet my pants but I suspect we would be getting Gestede plus one as one as he fits our profile for signings better.

If Fryers don't come on then its time to look at LB cover as well.

I think we are also looking at a new GK. Ruddy is a good shout but Norwich are likely to be a PL side by then.

Perhaps more pertinent is who goes out of the door ??

Sanogo and Ameobi will be off - cant see us wanting to keep either. GM could also be on his way. Damo Delaney and Hunt I also think will be off, possibly Hangeland as well.

No need to let Hangeland and Delany go...didn't Delaney sign a new contract at the end of the year?

Jack Hunt is worth keeping another year at least as we have him until summer 2017 and we need competition for Ward. Murray is worth keeping, he's not the Forward Id get rid to accommodate...

I think (if we stay up), then we'll be looking at decent championship players or players from relegated premier league clubs.

You can forget about Loic Remy, when Pardew had him at Newcastle he was only loan. Unless Chelsea were willing to loan him out, then you'll looking at sizeable transfer fee and very sizeable wages.

I think we'd be looking at players like Gustede, Rhodes, Tomlin etc.

Of the PL relegation candidates :-

Leicester - not sure of any.
Burnley - well Ings is going higher places
QPR - Austin may well go higher places, Caulker doesn't seem all that
Villa - Beneteke would go higher places, Vlaar maybe ?
Sunderland - I still wouldn't mind Adam Johnson or Giacherrini
Hull - Maybe Curtis Davies
West Brom - probably stay up
Everton - will stay up.

I don't think he will be available for 3 or 4 seasons, maybe 2 with good behaviour

I would not be at all surprised to see big changes at Centre Back and up front. It is quite possible we will see Delaney and Hangeland replaced by two new CB's and both Murray and Gayle departing with possibly two, or even three, new strikers coming in.

Pardew will want HIS squad as quickly as possible and he will already know who he wants to replace.

There's a chance he has the goods. We still need to be looking at a class goalkeeper (with 3 or 4 decent decent seasons in him). Speroni may have another season in him but we need to figure out Hennessey in preseason, the lad's already 28.

Austin would be a mint signing and I'd like a centreback like that Kongolo lad at Feyenoord or (if we've a chance) de Vrij. A young CB who would do alright playing midfield in the champ.

Our wingers are pretty much class and just need a little unlocking, if we had a killer CM they'd have more room to develop their game.
