Yep, lets worry about staying up first.

But so not going happen if we stayed up and QPR went down. Austin has been banded around with Ings and Kane as potential England call ups.

If this happens and he proves half decent, top sides will be all over him especially given he is English and they need their home grown quotas.

PS QPR have deep pockets.

When you've got an air disaster with early indications suggesting pilot error on your hands, your pockets can become less deep in a hurry. Note how Harry has been replaced by the low-cost option. Note how Rangers are now talking about "developing from within." I suspect Mr. Fernandez will be marshaling his resources for non-football battles in the months and years ahead. The days of deep pockets at Loftus Road are probably over, at least for now.

......plus with the threat of relegation a possible fine and sanctions if they drop back down to the Championship.

The threat of a fine has gone as they have reduced their debt by £60m - Mr F and friends have written off their loans.
As for Charlie Austin - if we stay up then let's go after him - he would do well for us and would enjoy the wingers feeding him

OK, I accept all arguments. We are not 3rd behind Saints and him staying put as he is very unlikely to stay put. We are 2nd behind Saints... unless any other higher placed team makes a firm approach - then we drop further down.

We remain a long way down the pecking order in terms of pulling power for young, domestic players who have proved themselves in this league. Our catchment area remains the lower leagues, SPL, fringe Premiership players, plundering the relegated except high scoring strikers! and overseas footballers so long as they have recently played within our extremely limited scouting network [France].

I am not being negative. This is current reality. Pardew has emphasised the need to expand our scouting network and this will start this summer. Also, the longer we are in this league the greater our finances, infrastructure and status. In other words, our time will come.

Not necessarily as much depends on where we finish the season. If we finish mid table for the second year running it could be down to the pulling power of Alan Pardew as he tries to impress any signings that he wants to make with his vision of the future and the part that the target will play in it.

Kane is 21 and Ings is 22 and Kane is something else. Austin's coming on 26 and he's not as direct as Ings when going for defenders.

Saints have Pelle and Long who he'd be challenging for a starting place, if he came here he'd be starting every game.

He's shown his quality in the prem this season and I don't think there's a chance he'd be willing spend another season in the champ with QPR.

..we definitely have a shot here

Heard a rumour a few months back that maybe he is buying one of the new properties overlooking Newbury Racecourse, only 35 minutes down the A34 to Southampton.Lousy journey to Beckenham.

Impressive as Kane has been -- and he has been impressive -- the jury will be out until the end of next season. Forwards always have an advantage in their breakthrough season because the opposition hasn't played them before. Next year, when defenders have worked him out, we'll see if he scores the same number of goals. If he does then he's for real; until then, judgment is best reserved.

As a matter of interest are we buying Charlie Austin in addition to Loic Remy?

It's still March and the media are already in full flow linking us with every striker going
