It does matter. Cook has now put himself under pressure for his place and Trott needs to go back to how he's been at his best for England, which is starting patiently and batting long around the quicker scorers. If one of the three I named earlier fails in this innings, and Buttler or another doesn't step up, we could easily lose.

Cook won't lose his place. Trott does need to be at #3, I'd bring in Lyth. As I said earlier in the thread, Ballance needs to go back to county for a few months. The biggest travesty though, which I alluded to during the WC, is how we continue to overlook players like Vince and Roy.

Much needed ton for Ballance! I feel we should have declared an hour earlier though. I'm all for Root as next captain, in test and ODI. He'll go onto be England greatest ever cricketer imo
