The Clash - I know this will anger many on here but I just never 'got' them. Should I stay or should I go is ok - but Rock The Casbah is bloody awful.
It's a real shame. Mick Jones cannot sing or write a decent song. If he was excised from the band or just played his instrument and shut up, the Clash could have been one of the greats. The others to the list: Rolling Stones [after Brian Jones] On Queen, I have so much to say I could fill a thread such is my hatred of them and alarm at their ever-lasting popularity. Suffice to say they are 4 extremely talented individuals who produced ground breaking material and some really good songs but somehow collectively their "music" has an effect like a cheese grater to the cochlea. It is beyond awful.

1 Yes There are so many. Edited by pefwin (25 Apr 2015 7.49pm) Since when have they been rated? They started as the "poor mans Canned Heat" and progressed to stadium novelty act. We are talking bands who critics wet their knix over for no discernible reason... like the Clash

So far all of the replies are f***ing nonsense. The beatles? The who? Overrated my f***ing arse. I'm not a led zeppelin fan, but overrated they are not. It's actually making me laugh. I think you may be confusing 'overrated' with 'I've never listened to any of their material outside of what's on the radio'. That can be the only explanation. Edited by Jamesrichards8 (25 Apr 2015 4.04pm) Edited by Jamesrichards8 (25 Apr 2015 4.05pm) Edited by Jamesrichards8 (25 Apr 2015 4.06pm) They're overated, doesn't mean they're not good or even great bands, just that they're no where near as relevant or good as they're portrayed. Beatles released maybe two really good albums (Revolver and the White Album). Good, but definitely overrated, probably because of my love of pretentious musical genres.

They were completely forgotten about over the States

Gotta pull you up on the Stones though, their best work was done with Mick Taylor in the band. Queen, bit of meh from me but their stadium rock doesn't really float my boat but their set at Live Aid was one of the best on the day.

Boomtown Rats anyone? Mainly because the u2 talk reminded me of massively self satisfied c*ck munchers I want to punch. Who gives a f*ck that a rancid Irish scarecrow didn't like Mondays? He's still dining out on that rubbish band and all those patronising songs about Africans.

Also the Stranglers, like them, lucked into one good track before disappearing into their own bum holes.
