This is key to a lot of what I say.

Who decides what is offensive?

Most of the stuff decided on here comes from people who live in the back of beyond, those in professions with motives or those who think they know what is best but have hidden themselves away from the real world.

as a dog i am finding this whole thread very bi-pedal centric. It has little or no regard for those who perambulate on four legs and none at all for the hoppity types who lost a leg in an accident at the Vet's.

you are all a bunch of biped-centric leg-ists.

Think this could be a permanent thread on its own.....? But seriously why not expend some energy on addressing the glaring lack of diversity (there are often more black faces on the pitch) at SP in a Borough with a healthy percentage BME. Or do we feel that engaging in such dialogue is;

i am finding the term 'pigeon hole' very offensive. It should be called 'retrospective taxonomical classification' or RTC for short.

don't you love 'positive discrimination' ie. a white bloke doesn't get a job he is well qualified for cos he is a white bloke.

and you end up sacking Alan Pardew and hiring Harriet Harman to run your football team.

Doesn't work quite like that, its if there is an choice between two equally qualified candidates, then the default position of Positive Action is that the other person gets it.

Is the wrong answer and is actually 'positive discrimination' and contrary to existing law in this country. Positive Action is lawful but can only be applied BEFORE the selection process takes place e.g offering extra tuition to recognised underepresented (as defined by the existing legislation) groups or actually encouraging said groups to apply for a position. However, at the point of selection, under current legislation, everyone is considered as equal and the most suitably qualified person SHOULD get the post regardless of ethnic persuasion, gender, disability, sexual orientation etc.

It isn't really but unless you actually plonk yourself down in South Norwood High Street and accost every passer by who fits into easy stereotype and bully them into answering why they don't go to Palace you have to file it under ' it is what it is' I guess.

I suspect just like the white folks there would be a myriad of reasons..

A. South Norwood High street alone may produce a biased sample, would suggest a wider spread of localities B. Of course in any academic research it would be sensible to obtain the views of white people, for comparative reasons....
