I'd say that has some substance to it - in my experience most people in that scene are either there to party with their mates or are only after one thing and if they don't put out, they aren't interested.

Normally though, i'd say it's more of a case of meeting people through people, when out.

I bumped into my missus in a corridoor on a cruise ship, she had just got on and making her way to her cabin. We turned into each other, did the akward hello's and later that day found out we were working in the same department and shifts, we hit it off big time.

Her aunty also worked onboard and tried to get me sacked 3 months prior - i said as a joke i would smash her nieces back doors in then throw her out the room as revenge.... needless to say i didn't throw her out

Met my wife at a party almost 30 years ago.

My mate met his wife at a night club above the ice rink in Streatham. Unfortunately she died this year but they were married for 25 years.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Nightclub in Botswana 20 years ago, although she was a friend of a friend so we were sort of in the same group. Then kept bumping into each other while out for a couple of months until I finally convinced her I was a great catch - not quite sure how that happened!

Now been married 10 years.

I heard my Mrs laughing (like a donkey) in the firm's restaurant in 1982.

She still does the same laugh today!
