It is true Bamford went missing in the play-off final. Arguably Messi went missing in both the World Cup and Copa America finals, I'd still have him if he came available.

Bamford won championship player of the year last season, at a really young age. He scores with his head, he scores poachers goals, he scores from long range, basically his potential is huge.

In the last few years we've seen Austin, Vardy and Ings make it in the premier league. Our own Glenn Murray hasn't done too bad. Therefore, writing bamford off because he comes from Chelsea, or suggesting people only rate him due to this is quite frankly bizarre. The stats, the accolades and pundits in the game all agree that bamford is potentially a very very good player, as is Rhodes for example.

I'd love Remy but recent comments from Mourinho suggests we won't get him. Snapping up Bamford would be a real coup. Personally I'd like him having seen him play for boro and Derby. I am that convinced by his ability I would prefer us to buy him rather than loan.

Very well argued, and I agree. Latest tweats/rumours seem to suggest that Chelsea might actually be prepared to sell him with a buy back clause. If CP could pull off buying/loaning Remy and Bamford, plus a decent CB, then (words escape me!)

Wonderful comparison with messi and bamford there , it's not like messi has scored four hundred career goals more than bamford, I think he's earned the right to have the odd bad game!! Anyway my point was there seems to be a huge amount of people hyping this kid up because he scored some goals last year and is a Chelsea player , it's unbelievable the amount I've read on social media etc when clearly the vast majority haven't even watched him play , I haven't said he isn't talented , like I said if we can get him for a reasonable fee , I'd take him , but not as our main striker signing this summer , I'd like Austin , remy , gestede or even ndoye , more experienced centre forwards with him to , if he was our only forward signed this summer I would be disappointed , as like you've said "potentially" he will be great player , we need someone for the here and now as well.

Bamford wasn't fit in the play-off final. All my Boro fan mates agreed he shouldn't have played.

Oh dear oh dear. Comparing Bamford to Messi was purely showing that all players, regardless of ability have games where they're under par.

Cabaye has raised the bar in terms of who we sign. I get that. All I am merely saying is this kid is good, very very good. And that's from seeing him play, speaking to a lot of boro mates about him and also having family who are Derby fans, not through learning about his name on social media.

Remy over him? Yes.
Austin over him? Arguable considering the difference in price. Austin needs to do it for a second season in my opinion.
Ndoye over him? Absolutely not. Good player but at 30 years old, on 50k a week and scored 5 goals, admittedly in a struggling team from January, I'd still rather have bamford.

Bamford will be a successful Prem forward, whether with us or another team, but outside the top 4/5. The vast majority of young British players won't get a look in at Chelsea/Citeh/Utd so will have to look elsewhere for game time. Why not us? If we can get him for reasonable money I think it's a no-brainer.

He could be Murray's deputy next season and replace him eventually.

Apparently most betting companies have now suspended betting on bamford to palace, I like bamford, young and full of potential, he is Chelsea's Harry Kane IMO, obviously not been given game time like Kane though.

Also according to Reliable Larry, who as you'll all remember said that Bamford would be our next signing, is now saying Bamford signing is imminent

Also it could be that Agent Ameobi will be reporting for duty...

Bamford certainly strikes me as a Harry Kane type situation.

Kane went out on loan to Orient, Millwall, Norwich and Leicester, mostly below prem level. By all reports he looked decent but he didnt set the goal charts alight. He never won a player of the year award in the second tier of english football that has seasoned international players playing in it and players that have had a lot of prem experience.

At the start of last season we were trying hard to get Kane, who on this site would have been excited had that been our major signing at the time? I doubt many, now we will never ever have the chance to sign Harry Kane as he has gone onto another level. He did that by getting the chance to play. Yes he got himself some confidence playing in Europe and scoring but he still had to do it at prem level and he did consistently.

Bamford destroyed the championship last year, put him in our system with Wilf/Yala/Yohann/Punch feeding him and that boy will score goals. I honestly wouldnt be surprised if he was a 20-25 goal striker.
