Anybody is a giant upgrade on Campbell who at best is Championship & facts of 31 goals in 140 games for Sunderland, Hull & us prove that.
N`Doye has only been prolific in Denmark scoring 93 goals in 154 & he is 30.
If you take out the 31 goals Murray scored for us in the promotion season, the other 3 season`s read 15 goals in 77 games & 8 in 18 for Reading last season.
Gayle who i know you have never rated, he has 18 goals in 55 games for us.
If we do get Austin or Remy, wouldn`t you like to see Austin & Gayle upfront or Remy & Gayle?
If like most teams we play 1 upfront, Remy or Austin if we sign either, then Gayle or Murray atleast deserve a place on the bench.
N`Doye would not be an upgrade, let alone a giant 1 on Gayle, if Gayle is played upfront with Remy, Austin or even Murray.

I think this is extremely disingenuous. First of all, your stats are wrong. Campbell has played 127 Premiership games and scored 17 goals. Gayle has played 48 Premiership games and scored 12 goals. As we're talking about Premiership performance here, let's ignore hat-tricks against Walsall in the League Cup, eh?

However, the point of this is not to re-hash my views on Gayle but, rather, to question why Campbell has become everyone's favourite whipping boy at Palace?

Bottom line: Campbell is not the Premiership centre forward you'd choose to spearhead your attack but he is a solid performer who has had success at far higher levels than Gayle in his career. Due to injury, we have seen nowhere near the best of him at Palace but he's a decent footballer (not just goalscorer) and as a "fourth" forward in a squad, there are many worse. Given a prolonged, injury-free run he has at least something to contribute.

If we had a forward line-up of Remy, Ndoye, Murray and depending where you position them, Chamakh and Puncheon, Campbell is far from the worst player we could have in reserve. As for N'Doye, he would be a MASSIVE upgrade on Gayle. Different class altogether.

I'm confident that if Gayle played another 79 games in the Premier League, he would get more than 5 goals.

Campbell isn't a terrible player but neither is he a particularly good one, and one who I don't think many would be unhappy to see the back of, not because he's bad or lazy, but because we can do better.

Swansea are poised to announce the £5million capture of Portugal striker Eder and are also closing in on Dame N'Doye from Hull. The likely double swoop will give Swansea boss Garry Monk a powerful new attacking line-up.

Striker N'Doye, 30, wants to quit the relegated Tigers and the Welsh club are in advanced talks over his £50,000-a-week personal demands.

I presume that if Swansea sign these two then Gomis is surplus to requirements as they won't all be playing.

Would N'Doye really sign for a club when he's likely to be fairly well down the pecking order?

I think Gayle would score more that 5 goals too. But Campbell is a much better footballer and others would score more goals as a result of his presence on the pitch. But anyway, the point was not Campbell vs. Gayle. I do think if we had four quality strikers, Campbell would be perfectly serviceable as a low-rent, last-man-in squad player. He is not the worst striker in the Premiership, when fully fit, by any means. But in terms of really scoring goals, both Gayle and Campbell are Championship quality.

Dame N'Doye's no substitute for Austin or Cissé. He's 30 years old and not on the same technical level. That said, he's still got a bit of pace and a decent finish so it'd be a good signing if he wasn't our only new striker. He'd add to the squad, but not significantly enough to replace Murray.

No I do not think he is really what we need so I hope we close the door down and look else where.

apparently he demanded big wages a couple of weeks ago.

whose to say we purposely linked ourselves moreso with remy again to bring ndoye back down to earth?

and today he'll accept 40k rather than the 60k he initially demanded.
