Ring any bells? I'm going to get some this week and relive my childhood.

Me too rednblue, `cept I`m going to look for the chicken one.
I used to love that.

Talking of such things, anyone remember the Kraft Cheddar Cheese spread in jars?
I`d buy that again if I saw it.

Not often I disagree with nick, but I`d take Shippams Chicken Spread over any pate, anytime.

Is this a five minute argument, or the full half hour? [Link]

Talking of health and safety, our window cleaner isn't allowed to use a ladder anymore. Has to use a brush thing on a pole.
Imagine Robin Askwith without a ladder! That confessions of a window cleaner would have been even s***terer. Notwithstanding the obvious 'grab my pole gently' entendre.

in sainsburys last week food shopping with the missus, saw "shippams paste" it's years since I have had that, so chucked a couple of jars in the basket, had some the next day, crikey I had forgotten how good it tasted, especially on crackers, loving it...... Again!!!

What a coincidence! I did exactly the same on Thursday when I saw some Crab paste (always my favourite) in Tesco's. Had it in a brown bread sandwich...... Yum Yum.

We always seemed to go for the fishy ones when I was small - Sardine & Tomato, Salmon & Shrimp, Bloater and Crab Sunday teatime just wouldn't have been the same without fish paste sandwiches

Grew up eating 'paste' many times through the 70's. I rediscovered my youth around 3yrs ago.
'Sardine & Tomato' on cold buttered (never marge!) toast with black pepper.

Long live paste

Now there's a thought

Poor man's pate. But infinitely better than sandwich spread.

My Mrs has been having sardine and tomato paste on toast for her Saturday breakfast for years.

I have cheddary spread on toast.

Wash it down with a mug of tea brewed in a teapot.

The dog gets the leftovers bless him.

Perfect!

I have not gone near it since I worked with an ex-Shippam's production line employee. The ingredients are not always as listed you know and even those that are are the mankiest bits of the mankiest bits!
