Just been watching an article on Sky Sports News about Angel Di Maria has his proposed move to PSG. It really surrounded how South Americans find it much harder to adapt to the Premier League.

I would be very wary of bringing in south american players. Abel Herandez struggled at Hull last season, and Valencia was in and out for West Ham.

Crystal Palace are in ongoing talks to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Adrian Ramos according to the Gianluca Di Marzio.
Ramos has failed to settle for Dortmund after he was handed the tough task of replacing Robert Lewandowski after the Polish striker sealed a move to Bayern Munich. Ramos could join fellow striker Ciro Immobile, who left the club this summer to join Europa League Champions Sevilla on loan.

The 29 year-old only managed to score two goals and recorded two assists in 18 league appearances. Ramos only arrived in April of 2014 on a four-year contract from Hertha Berlin. Ramos has also represented his native Colombia 35 times, scoring just four goals.

The news comes just days after Alan Pardew completed the signing of Patrick Bamford on loan from Chelsea. Ramos would add strength in depth to the squad after Pardew admitted he wanted to add strength to the side. Pardew even added today after his side played Super Sport United in the Cape Town Cup that, “I am still hoping to bring in more. We want more competition.”

Nothing is for sure yet, but the club did release the squads kit numbers today, and one number still remains open for use. Could that player be Ramos? Time will only tell for the Colombian.

From this report, it doesn't look like he scores much at all. Next...

I would still like to see Rhodes come to Palace. Them I would be very happy.

I agree with you I would love too see Rhodes at palace. Don't think he's worth the 12 mil Blackburn are demanding though. He should definately be playing in the prem though.

£14m middlesborough are gonna pay

42 in 126 games for America De Cali.
68 in 157 for Hertha Berlin.
2 in 18 for Borussia Dortmund.
4 in 35 for Columbia.

Do those stats suggest that he struggles at the very highest level or perhaps that he thrives more as a big fish in a smaller pond rather than the other way round? If so we could be just the right level for him to get back to his best.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

Hate to say it, but the description on the world football phone in on 5 live in the night made him sound a bit like Sanogo!!!! They didn't use the words fcuking useless exactly, but I didn't like the sound of him tbh

Crazily harsh.

Great scoring record in the Bundesliga... Admittedly not great at Dortmund but we will never be in the market for the strikers that succeed at clubs like that.

Plus 30 odd caps for Columbia.

Hardly Sanogo.

The description from the South American and European football experts seemed to be big, ungainly and struggling for goals, which sounded exactly like Sanogo to me, but tbf, they did also say he is surprisingly mobile and if he gets his form back might do us a job

Made in Bromley

Apparently he's excellent in the air, and I could well imagine him getting onto lots of crosses from our wide players.

If we're going to be spending this amount i'd rather us just get Austin (or Rhodes).

Hopefully just a retread. If this guy was 25 or 24 then brilliant, but just seems a huge ammount on someone nearing 30?

I would be very wary of bringing in south american players. Abel Herandez struggled at Hull last season, and Valencia was in and out for West Ham.

There are an equal number of examples who prove the opposite (Oscar, Diego Costa, Alexis Sanchez.) One thing I would say is that for a lesser-known player, I am much more comfortable with them coming from success in the Bundesliga than Italy or Spain, which is the case with Ramos, as the pace and style of the football there is more similar to ours than the more languid, laconic pace of the Mediterranean leagues and the Prem is therefore less of an adjustment. And last season aside, when there were extenuating circumstances at Dortmund, Ramos' record in Germany is impressive (the simple fact that Dortmund felt he COULD replace Lewandowski speaks volumes.)

If Parish and Pards think he's the man that's good enough for me. TBH, I shudder at the number of people here who'd be prepared to spunk 14 million quid on Jordan Rhodes, a Championship footballer not a single other Premier League team has seen fit to make a serious bid for over the past two years (does no one else think there's not a reason for that?) If you learn nothing else from the Dwight Gayle experience, it's surely just how difficult a leap it is to make. To spend over 10 million quid on any Championship player is both laughable and idiotic.

Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God.
