Thank god. I'm afraid that would have been a pretty good waste of money and at 30, he wouldn't have much sell on value if he flopped. Or if he succeeded really. I'd rather we spent that same money on austin.

Why are there so many saying we should go for Austin? If it's true he's on 85k a week then there's no way we should go for him. That's just ridiculous money for a player who's failed Medicals and played just one season in the Premier League. I bet this guy Ramos is on less than that at Dortmund. I think there's better options should we want a new striker.

No resale value. Another bullet dodged, unless some crafty ploy to divert attention from our real targets.

1 June 2010 - saved from oblivion by CPFC 2010
27 May 2013 - promoted to Premier League
2013-14 - 11th in PL
2014-15 - 10th in PL
2015-16 - 15th in PL
2016-17 - 14th in PL (and grateful for that!)

I would be very wary of bringing in south american players. Abel Herandez struggled at Hull last season, and Valencia was in and out for West Ham.

There are an equal number of examples who prove the opposite (Oscar, Diego Costa, Alexis Sanchez.) One thing I would say is that for a lesser-known player, I am much more comfortable with them coming from success in the Bundesliga than Italy or Spain, which is the case with Ramos, as the pace and style of the football there is more similar to ours than the more languid, laconic pace of the Mediterranean leagues and the Prem is therefore less of an adjustment. And last season aside, when there were extenuating circumstances at Dortmund, Ramos' record in Germany is impressive (the simple fact that Dortmund felt he COULD replace Lewandowski speaks volumes.)

If Parish and Pards think he's the man that's good enough for me. TBH, I shudder at the number of people here who'd be prepared to spunk 14 million quid on Jordan Rhodes, a Championship footballer not a single other Premier League team has seen fit to make a serious bid for over the past two years (does no one else think there's not a reason for that?) If you learn nothing else from the Dwight Gayle experience, it's surely just how difficult a leap it is to make. To spend over 10 million quid on any Championship player is both laughable and idiotic.

Coutinho, Suarez, Ageuro, Tevez, Mascherano, Zabaleta, Forlan... List is endless of premier league players who more than proved there worth from South America - my favourite type of players when they're good

Valencia's also been linked with Chelsea after his first season at the Hammers. Not too bad.
