Corbyn might be wrong on stuff (I agree with quite a lot of he and McDonnells policies, personally, but can understand why some would be apprehensive), but for f*** sakes, stop saying "unelectable" because it's a s*** argument that you didn't even come up with or can even justify in a legible way. Stop thinking in terms of Labour, Conservative, Left and Right and think individually for yourselves. It's not a crime to be wrong. It's an incredibly liberating feeling to break from the contraints of feeling you have to support everything your political affiliates do or say. Have your own thoughts and policies and support what you think is right, not what some self-interested (probably dead-child phone-hacking) newspaper parrots over to you.

This statement is exactly the reason why I'm not motivated to post on here any more especially as I have severe problems typing due to my numerous ailments that make my life difficult.

FFS - people do think for themselves!

You and your left wing comrades insult everyone's intelligence by suggesting that we cannot think for ourselves and are spoon fed our political ideals by the media.

Jeremy Corbyn is unelectable.

Just look at what happened yesterday - a new woman PM wiped the ferkin floor with him on her maiden PMQ's session.

He surrounds himself with fcukwits like Diane Abbott who pander to his ego and shelter him from the reality that he is the Emperor with no clothes on.

The voting public that he needs to convince that he is a viable Prime Minister do not trust him to be capable in times of crisis. They see a feeble man defeated easily in debate by a new woman PM on her first outing. They see a scruffy man who has U turned on his principles to support the Remain argument despite a 40 year crusade to discredit the EU Bureaucrats. They have heard him confess he would not press the button for a nuclear strike, therefore rendering our deterrent strategy worthless.

He is supported by the left wing activists like Socialist Worker and Momentum. These people have no real grasp that their socialist ideals will lead to them even remotely getting close to being in government.

I agree with Hrolf.... as a committed Tory supporter, the Labour leadership contest is going EXACTLY to plan.

No chance of a Labour government being elected ever again probably.

(that post was painful for me to type and took ages, but was worth it!)

Very possibly.
There is going to be an exodus if Corbyn wins again. What will all those quitting Labour MP's do next and how will that effect their constituencies?

I don't know why Corbyn doesn't split off and form his own party called momentum, letting Labour get back to some semblance of normality, if he's got this massive support that they claim.

Or is it that he would have little to no support without the Labour brand?

Optimistic as ever

The media has been so one sided against Corbyn and the progress pr machine at maximum.

Over the past few months there have been almost no reports that are positive. FFS we even got that he didn't bow low enough.

Whilst I agree that people think for themselves, their interpretation of things comes from somewhere.
The only form of media which shows some support for Corbyn is social media.

Is it any wonder that people come to the conclusion that Corbyn is rubbish if that is all they have heard or read for the past 6 months.

We have the most right wing PM for many years, her pat record shows this, yet the story is that the country is in 'a safe pair of hand's which I've heard a lot of people echo. Yep she's happy to kill hundreds of thousands of people, however the man who saidhe isn't prepared do this is the extremist!

You could say the same about Farage,UKIP or the Leave campaign. You didn't complain about that that did you.

The man who thinks that the world's nuclear powers will disarm is extremely deluded.

Would he be prepared to kill to defend his country or would he just surrender because he is a pacifist?

Or...

Corbyn wins, takes the hard left with him and the soft left joins together with the soft right and creates a new Social Democrat party. If that happened I suspect it would gain a huge groundswell, possibly big enough to be successful in a General Election.

Be careful what you wish for Hoof.

And by the way, May didn't cover herself in glory in my opinion. It was like kicking a cat that had already been run over.

Was it mezzer who has money on the 2020 election being won by a party which doesn't exist yet? Looking like smarter money by the day.

If they're deselected or step down they stand to receive up to about £33,000 or a maximum of 6 month's salary, 1 month per year of service, and 2 months of accommodation expenses.

That has got to be a consideration. Some will stand zero chance of winning in a GE with a new party and a GE could be in 2020.

Then there's the deselection possibility, if backed by 50 local members or 10% of local membership at a local meeting.

Labour stand to lose about 35 MP's with boundary changes and more rural voters join their constituencies. A centrist party might help them.

However it goes, whoever they are, Labour or new democrats, they surely won't be able to challenge in a GE till 2025 at the earliest.

Eh? How are they one-sided?! From what I could see, the Remain / Leave support from the printed press was pretty much 50/50 and the Daily Express basically cups and gently caresses the balls of UKIP and Farage.

I totally disagree and my view is shared by a number of people whom I spoke to today.

I'm not sure what alternative universe you are posting from. Does Mr Spock have a beard?

Alternative universe? Unless Essex has completely different newspapers, and I'm lucky enough to have editions printed just for me, I'm still pretty sure the press was, on the whole, equally divided on Remain/Leave. And The Daily Express has Farage's grinning face supporting their various "crusades" seemingly on a weekly basis.

So, I'll try again: in your universe, how exactly is the press one-sided against the Leave campaign, UKIP and Farage?

I'm no fan of Corbyn, but Nick very much has a point about the press' treatment of him.
