Whats the name of the young guy at Reading?
I thought he looked pretty good against Arsenal last season.

Gone to Norwich on Loan. Was not on our radar.

Are you thinking of Alex Pearce or Michael Hector. Alex Pearce has gone to Derby. Hector is good but no experience at top level.

Ben Gibson is also another good young center back which would be a good buy, could be a very good player in the future and would fit well into our defense next to Dann, where we would gain experience.

Good shout- and Boro had meanest defence in the championship last season.

I am thinking that the lower leagues give developing players opportunities to shine; Patrick Bamford springs to mind. Palace have loaned out a few, who hopefully will return ready for first team squad action.

Not for me. Appears to lack pace and seems somewhat pondrous to me. His uncle is the Middlesbrough owner and Chairman Steve Gibson. Heard he is very vocal and always in the thick of the dressing room banter !

I'd have no problem with an ageing defender for a couple of years. Ryan Inniss could be ready by then.

With Williams likely to stay at Swansea, Chester gone to West Brom and Collocinni being encouraged to stay at Newcastle (also likely to be a "stop gap", we seem to be running out of options of who to try and buy.

Any ideas ?

Not that he was a popular but you can add Caulker to the list of CB's that won't be coming to Palace. But we're far from running out of options.

I don't think we've really been after any of the CBs we've been reported to be after.

I think we'll be after someone relatively unknown and untried in the Premier League to compete with Kelly knowing if it fails we have Delany and Hangeland and as a last resort, the January transfer window.

The January transfer window may bring new options we decent CB are playing for teams no longer in Europe or not getting as much game time as they liked.
