I had to take the Docklands Lights Railway recently and pulled up at a station called 'Pudding Mill Lane'. I wondered how it got this name, but a look out of the train window gave me a clue. The station is very close to the Olympic Stadium. Explains it all really.

The first train stop, going south from Lincoln, is Hykeham. It is on Station road.
I don`t know how it got its name though, as if it were named after the road it is on, like your example, it would be Station Road station.

........and Isn't it amazing no matter where you travel in The Uk, when you leave the Train station there's always a boozer called The Railway tavern or The Junction right next door.

I know Jim. I really don`t know how to describe these coincidences.
It`s just uncanny.

Anyone else prefer buses?

Don't go anywhere near the peasant wagon. I used to have to every morning but there'd be this fat woman on it every day who I reckon never wiped her backside and just tried to disguise it with some overpowering perfume. Every time I smell that perfume now it makes me think a woman hasn't wiped her bum.

Oh no, I never get on. I like to watch them.

My brother in law tried to steal a train once. He was trying to get home pi$$ed in south London somewhere and the train journey stopped one stop before the end of the line for a crew change. There was no crew and after sitting there for a bit he decided to take matters into his own hands and drive it the final stop.

Problem was he couldn't drive a train and couldn't get it started. Got a round of applause off all the people on it as the police took him away. The police then dropped him home!

This was the mid 70s. How times have changed (on a number of levels).

He must have been more than pissed to try to steal a train.
I mean. Where`s he gonna fence that?
" wanna buy a train John?"

I live in Fareham and we have a train station, the next town along is Gosport and they don't have a station, well they did have one, but it's like old ruins now. It would be good if they re opened it, but they built a bus link instead, which is good.

We have two stations where I live. One called Burgess Hill, one called Wivelsfield. Weirdly, Wivelsfield is a village that's a short drive away.

Another hilarious anecdote was when AFC Wimbledon were in the same league as Burgess Hill Town. All the AFC Wimbledon fans incorrectly got off the train at Burgess Hill despite Wivelsfield being the nearest station. It hurt them so much that they spent the whole game shouting "Come on Wivelsfield" at the Burgess Hill players.

Those were the days.

When I moved to Selsdon I believed we had a train station, it was called Selsdon Station. But it wasn't near Selsdon, and it closed in 1983.

I was so upset I moved to France. France has a railway station.

I once dressed as a girl and 'pulled' a Palace fan on a train. He even took to social media in an attempt to reconnect with me.
