Well obviously I got a yellow card for expressing my opinion.

R.I.P free speech.

You got your yellow card for being OTT.

I agree with your sentiment, but tone down your aggression and ridiculous suggestions (unless you make it obvious they are tongue-in-cheek) before you get red carded.

There is room for all opinions on here even if we don't agree with them, but the important thing is to not let it get personal and abusive.

Right, it's time to pull up the draw bridge, batten down the hatches. NO MORE IMMIGRANTS, PERIOD. And the ones that are here that aren't supposed to be need to be deported with immediate effect, end of. No more bleeding heart cr@P.

So if the UK followed your line we'd not have the likes of Zaha, Bolasie, Jedinak, Speroni, Mariappa, Souare, Chamakh, Appiah, Guedioura or Lee to name a few.

I love Palace and I love being connected to other Palace fans but I hate how stupid some Palace fans are!

The OP and then the subsequent counter posts will as ever show without a shadow of a doubt why immigration in this country is such a mess.

The polarisation around immigration is why we cant have any reasoned and intelligent debate and policy.

Do we need immigration - Yes
Do we need a controlled immigration - Yes

Immigration into our country is too high due to the 'freedom of movement' aspect...First signed in by Thatcher in 92 but then fully implemented with obstacles removed by Labour in 2004.

The Tories set reasonable border control rules for non EU peoples coming into the country.....But our population is increasing at an unsustainable rate for our finances to cope.....This leads to a worse deal for Britain's working classes.

Every country in the world should retain control over its own borders.

The implementation of that control should always be upon a legal footing within our own laws or agreed international laws.....But ultimately decided upon by parliament and hence subject to electoral judgement.

Unlikely, seeing as she stepped down in 1991.

Freedom of movement is enshrined in the Treaty of Rome and it is somewhat forgotten that Thatcher was involved in taking the bill through the HoC when the UK joined the Common Market. It was extended in 1986 with the Single European Act which passed under Thatchers premiership.

Most of the modern EU is a creation of Thatchers

As you hate everything about Thatcher, if she was responsible for 'creating most of the modern EU', how come you are a staunch supporter of the shambles?

Of interest, it would be helpful if posters could start by defining what they think immigration is.

Are you talking about anyone coming here to live, whether legally or not, of any nationality and for any reason?

If, on the other hand, you are talking about specific groups, nationalities, races, then please do say so up front. Saves so much time.

There is nothing wrong with people coming here to set up a legitimate attempt at a better life through work etc, not the people in Calais who are hell bent on coming here because of all the riches it brings. They aren't proper immigrants, they are economic migrants.

As are pretty much 99% of those here legally.

Lets be honest they don't come here for the weather or our sandy beaches

It is not realistic or even desirable to have no immigration.
The problem is the uncontrolled numbers which are clearly too high per year and the cultural problems which seem to be news every week. The British government seems to have made no effort whatever to integrate migrants or encourage them to adopt a proud to be British attitude. What we have instead is more fragmentation than ever before. We also have very undesirable religious traits which go against everything we have tried to achieve in this forward thinking, predominately secular country.
The whole Channel tunnel debacle is a disgrace to both France and Britain and we cannot have people coming here illegally in the backs of lorries.
In the end, it is commerce that controls government thinking and encourages cheap labour and consumers to boost their profit.
It irritates me enormously when I hear people say the national health service would collapse without migrants. True migrants have always contributed positively in this country but the reason why the NHS is full of them is because government did not invest in training British people. It took the cheap option.
The best way to control immigration is for all us Europeans have to stop being so selfish and self obsessed and start having more children. The Western races and their culture will disappear if we don't breed more. That is the reality.

Hi Hoof,

All my views are pretty much tongue in cheek, no matter how much I don't want these economic migrants coming here I merely jest about what I would do, killing another man is a thing that is truly dreadful, especially if you have to live with it on your conscience. Sadly some left wing miscreant had taken the usual route of threatening censorship because the views expressed/joked about don't conform to extreme left wing values. I don't see my views as racist as there are many different races waiting in Calais.

Anyway, happy posting Hoof, you are one of a handful of posters on here who has a sensible outlook on things and can see something for what it actually is rather than reacting hysterically like our leftist 'friends'.

Agree....... but we also need to sort out Africa/Middle East problems so that hordes of frightened people don't want to come here for a better life.

A good starting point will be to wipe out groups like ISIS (or whatever they call themselves this week).

They are illegal whether they come in on the backs of lorries or not. If any were being denied a legal right, then I would agree with you. Uncontrolled immigration will quickly become an invasion without adequate security.

Germany has taken another approach because they are short of labour, but we aren't.

And it's really up to Europe to agree a policy on refugees.

What an utterly ridiculous post. The people you mentioned earn money and aren't TAKING MONEY OFF THE TAXPAYER. The players you have mentioned have come here because of work and they posses a certain skill. You really don't understand my post do you? I suppose you would let everyone who is waiting in Calais in, feed them, water them and give them money just because they demand it? Yes you're right some Palace fans are stupid.
