Music scene last night and looking at the images it could be another city entirely but no it is the London of the late seventies. So much change from then and so much fighting back then too. I'd almost forgotten how going to a gig was just as dangerous as going into the home end at other London football grounds. Of course you are right Kermit. My memory is selective and it certainly wasn’t all better back then. I remember the trains being vandalised, phone boxes not working, etc. etc. It’s just I guess if you compared most places in the UK to how they were 30+ years ago you would find a lot of change, however London has become almost unrecognisable and I guess I just miss it. When home does not feel like home anymore then where the heck is? It has changed and not for the better. The 70's and 80's were great.

and the 1970's/80's had changed hugely from the 40's/50's (and many older folks felt not for the better)and the 50's were way different to the 1910's (and many older folk felt not for the better)..Same in every generation or two;its what happens.

On the subject of George Cole,can remember watching Minder being a highlight of the week.
