It's always the Police that get blamed in these cases but they have a duty to investigate whether they believe the accuser or not. They also have a duty to investigate domestic burglaries but have admitted that they often don't have time so don't bother
Do we know the 'heritage' of the three people in the costumes. If they have Caribbean or African antecedents, will Police Scotland continue to carry out its investigation?

'Police Scotland has confirmed it is carrying out an investigation after complaints over the Wick Gala, in Caithness, Scotland' If some moron decides they are offended by something like this 'crime' then yes, as I previously alluded to, they are duty bound to investigate it whether they think it's bollocks or not. To play devils advocate, just because she was found not guilty it doesn't mean that he necessarily lied, but that reasonable doubt existed in the jurors minds - proving 'beyond reasonable doubt' is different from establishing a concrete proof. That of course doesn't mean that the guy was lying, only that he may have made it all up. That has to be proven beyond reasonable doubt as well.

The actual outcome seems to be that the jury could not reach a majority verdict. In reality she's been bailed for a week for the prosecution to decide whether it wishes to pursue a retrial. So I'd say its not quite as clear cut as people seem to think.
