I have a vw maxi caddy and I got the letter the other day saying that mine is one of the emission cheating cars. Got to wait for a 'technical solution to be developed' atleast it stats the the work carried out is free. Might see if they will give it a clean while they have it Has it improved your handicap much?

But when the software detects driving patterns that match an emissions test, it adjusts the engine output to lower emissions below the maximum levels. When this happens, performance goes in the toilet.

My van (VW Caddy 2.0 TDI) is going in for a ful service and re-map next week. After contacting Vw they say that they have nothing to offer atm in regards to software patches, anyway, vehicles won't be on a call back until Jan 2016. I'm going to swerve any call back as whatever i have done, VW will only f=ck it up with whatever they decide to con me with next. Edited by Boooo (16 Oct 2015 5.17pm)

The US EPA has now identified an number of other models with "defeat devices" installed. The list includes a Porsche model, which is embarrassing because Porsche's CEO stepped in to take over running the company after the last guy stepped down over this scandal. The newly added models are:

Obviously emissions are independently verified by government agencies but engine output would have to be tested by someone even if just a motoring magazine. It wasn't until someone figured out how to put all the gear in the car, and take it out on the open road, that the cheat was discovered. Under normal driving conditions, the emissions were horrendous. They reported it to the EPA, and the EPA verified the tests as accurate. The rest, possibly like VW, is history.

The rest, possibly like VW, is history. possibly but doubtful - governments have too many VW workers to kill the company. this will go on record as one of the all time stupidest corporate acts of deception. that is, not bank related - those guys are on a whole other level.

Their defence seems to be: the emissions might be higher than they're supposed to be, but we haven't put a defeat device in these models.
Also, the new twist relates to CO2, not NOx, which is a big difference. Vehicle tax rates are based on CO2 emissions, so you can add tax fraud to the list of wrongs going on here. Plus, owners will sue over the value drop they suffer because of the fraudulently advertised emissions on these cars. I drove past a billboard last week that said, simply, "WeSueVW.com". I own a 2013 Audi A7. Not an implicated model as yet - it's a petrol engine - but some of the new problem models are petrol engined... Edited by Ray in Houston (04 Nov 2015 5.09pm)

VW to offer "substantial payout" to car owners and buy-back in US deal over emissions cheat scandal. You can bet that in the EU they'll offer nothing and owners will be told to do one.

You couldn't make this crap up if you tried. The EU are taking legal action against 7 countries, including ourselves, for not knowing that VW were cheating the f*** out of their emissions tests. Alright we'll fine them £15bn as well and they can go down the f***ing pan altogether. Somehow I don't think the EU would allow us to do that though.
