A well used phrase by those who can't abide an election result of a certain outcome, but who's the scum here?

Not peaceful, shocking that delegates have been told not to wear their name tags.

Protests like this are just an excuse for class war style anarchists to wreck property and carry out violence towards the police.

Once again Corbyn shows he has no chance of becoming PM by condoning the protest.

Jesus do those people even exist still in any meaningful numbers?

Protest is a right (or more correctly a meaningless safety value by which sections of society 'misbehave' without actually causing real trouble). Peaceful protest is meaningless, you need some good old fashioned civil disobedience.

If you're going to 'change the system and break the status quo' you'll not achieve it by just showing up, throwing eggs and being a bit naughty for a day.

And what would be the outcome of this revolution ?

Another bunch of power hungry self serving b******s who will be unpopular with those who are never happy whatever happens.

Good old fashioned protest. Although I'd certainly draw the line at some of those puns. Shockingly poor standard.

Spitting in someone's face is a bit out of order. Still, its all part of the day out, along with the sneaky slap from a copper and someone who's decided that a protest march is an excuse for a p*ssup with his mates.

A friend of my fathers was telling me his stories of policing football matches in Nottingham and having to take shuriken / death stars out of his helmet. Which makes an egg at a political demo seem a bit tame. Kids these days.

No it's not.

Fancy dress doesn't make you look like a credible protester either. It just makes you look like a moron having a day out and pretending they're an anarchist.

A bit out of order? It's one of the most disgusting things you could do and shows all the intellect of pond life.

Yeah, you're right on the button with the spitting and taunting, especially on Journalists - These are the people you want to not upset.

But protests aren't a display of intellect, if they were, rather than actually go out in a mob of 60,000 they'd go out individually or in small groups and cause some proper civil disobedience on a wide scale that the police couldn't actually logistically handle. Its all really just a safety value by which people think they've 'done something', and the pressure is released, and everyone goes back to work on the Monday.

Its all a bit tame these days though, when the worst that can be reported is some people spitting, someone being egged.

Good grief - we had this on our own doorstep just 4 years ago.

F**k knows, but lets be honest, government couldn't give less of a s**t about 60,000 people behaving themselves, except for a few individuals, waving placards.

I'm down with Anarchism - I'm not sure that it actually involves living in a squat, living on benefits, spitting on people and just smashing s**t up on occasion. That's just being anti-social and a dick.

I always figured that it was firstly about the rights and freedom of the individual to live their lives how they wish, without the moral constraints of society being forced upon them, with a view towards a society that serves and provides for all its people, rather than organizations (state and corporate) and systems of wide scale inequality.

Sad that the legitimate protest of many was spoilt by the stupidity of the few.

Sad that the right wing press bleat because they get picked on by the very people they seek to goad into action.

Reminds me of the glory days of 77 when Bill Grundy when he goaded the Pistols to say something then got shocked when they did!

This is the first tory government since 1997, so it's hardly the status quo.

Most people protesting have never known a tory government in their adult life.

A big boost for the travel economy. Probably sold a lot of train tickets, boosted local retail income and hospitality income. Irony really likes a good protest. Probably shifted a load of 'leftie' newspapers and pamphlets (all paid for, money for publishing etc), plus the sale of all those materials to make the signs, bottles of water, lunches and then maybe dinner and a few drinks before heading home. Then you have the T-Shirt sales, usually a nice side line, even the eggs were probably purchased.

And in the end, all to support the 'opposition' which is itself not really any different than the norm.
