I love a boring ticket story.

I'll share a couple. I've got a season ticket. Every time I go to a home game I see the same faces around me. I know. Mad.

Better still, I parked where I shouldn't have once. When I came back I had a parking ticket on my windscreen. After a day or two I paid it. Never heard about it again from that day to this.

Fact is often stranger than fiction.

Interesting. Could you describe those faces? I know 4 people with season tickets, so it's possible I know the people in question.

Correction, I know 5. My mistake.

I'm glad you took an interest.

I paid for all four tickets. Owain and Steve will be paying me back before my credit card bill arrives. I will charge Steve £2 less than Owain as he gave me a lift home the other day.

Joe, the supplementary friend, will pay me even if it subsequently transpires that his employer decides he does have to work. If this happens I'll try to flog the ticket.

Happy to field further questions.

Is that the same as 'friends with benefits'?

He's 12 years younger than me and I am friends with his parents. That'd be all kinds of wrong.

Eeeerrr, I know you come from Brighton, but there's a problem with the fact that he's younger than you, but not that he's male!!!!!!

Go on, keep 'em coming

Don't even get me started on the day I caught a bus...

...What happened the day you caught a bus?

Too amazing. Even for this thread.

I am posting this here rather than on Palace Talk or Ticket Talk despite it being about Palace tickets. Mainly because it's a fairly boring story.

Me and three of my mates decided we'd go to the Newcastle game (we're the kind of die hard supporters that go to at least two games a season, you know, proper hardcore) but one of my mates couldn't be sure he'd get time off work so we only booked three seats in the AW next to each other. Nearly a week after we booked, the other mate realised he could make the game. I went on the ticket website and everything was pretty much sold out, other than the odd seat here and there. Imagine how amazed I was that one of only about 10 seats left in Block U was right next to our row of three. Happy days, bring on the Geordies.

Interestingly, I am not amazed that nobody chose to sit next to you.

I think I may have the answer to your almost unbelievable story. As you bought an odd number of seats and statistically speaking there is a much higher chance that someone will want an even number (I made that piece up to fit my hypothesis) it was virtually impossible to sell the seat next to you. Then as you booked the additional ticket on your card the high tech selhurst computer automatically knew you would like that seat placed next to the previous three tickets that you purchased. I hope I've not gone and spoilt the mystery!

I also have a similar story. My friend mc cheapskate wanted to attend the Chelsea match with me and asked me to book the two tickets online using his reference and my one together to ensure we sat together. I politely refused, highlighting that last time I paid for his 10p raiders crisps I did not receive the loan back for at least 6 days. Therefore we came up with a fool proof plan. We would both go online at the same time and try to get tickets near each other so we could at least wave and smile at each other in a Brightonesque manner during the game. To my amazement we managed to get the seats next to each other following the aforementioned method of ticket purchase. True Story that one. I welcome any questions....

It's a good explanation, just that when I bought the block of three, I didn't have four seats to choose from, virtually the whole row was free. I don't actually know whether there was initially an odd or even number of seats in the row though. I'm almost not inclined to bother finding out.

Exactly my thoughts, I pondered whether the box office had been warning people off, or perhaps, like when they mark 'restricted view' on the online seating plan there was also a 'seated near a bell end' marker.

Luckily I don't come from Brighton, I was born in Croydon and live a safe distance North of Brighton. I work there but only enough to make me crave c*ck once a month.
