Unless, of course, you subscribe to the multiverse theory, which would get very messy very quickly - and wouldn't lend itself very well to a teen comedy If you like 'Back to the Future' I heartedly recommend the magnificent cartoon, 'Rick and Morty'. Essentially its massively inspired by back to the future (but more about parallel dimensions). But effectively Doc Brown is a functioning alcoholic borderline sociopath, and Marty is his slightly retarded grandson. Very strange, but wonderfully insane comedy. Brilliantly mental stuff, by Dan Hammond (who invented Community). The end of episode 6 'Rick Potion number 9' is utterly brilliant and dark.
