Dead. One of the last in the great New Orleans tradition of rhythm and blues composers and piano players. Wrote and produced Lee Dorsey's Working in a Coalmine and Holy Cow, Irma Thomas' Ruler of My Heart and Its Raining, as well as classics by other artists like Fortune Teller and Lipstick Traces. Later made and/or produced and wrote some great soul albums in the 70's from which others covered tracks with considerable success such as Southern Nights (Glen Campbell),Yes We Can Can (Pointer Sisters) and What Do You Want The Girl To Do (Boz Scaggs). Also produced Lady Marmalade for Labelle. RIP Allen
