Paying £12.12 a month for output like 6Music and TV like the Attenborough documentaries is a bargain in my opinion.

Should be kept being funded by the licence fee, well worth the money.

The internet content is fantastic but I can't see why they can't have adverts on it but I'd hate to see adverts on the TV or Radio.

Yes there is a lot of rubbish but some of that rubbish is very popular and no one forces me to watch it, if there is nothing on I can listen to an LP, read a book or trawl through Netflix.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

I think it's going to go. I agree with everyone here and think it's decent value for money but they're struggling to compete. There's already been talk at the beeb of scrapping the license and going subscription (which I think still negates the need for advertising).

As an aside though, there's word that they've been lying to us about their detector vans & equipment and none of it actually works. The beeb have confirmed that "detection" evidence has NEVER been presented during the prosecution of an alleged license fee evader.

So, adverts like the below were not only fabrications but created deliberately to scare us into buying their product. Aunties protection racket.

Or 'scare us into not stealing it' would probably be fairer.

Still very wasteful with our money... too many levels of management for a start.

But if you add up the good things it does and take off all the bad things it still adds up to a wonderful service that is probably worth the money.

It should be able to pay for itself though by selling it's best programmes abroad, which it does now, but obviously for too low a price.

It also overpays some celebrities too.

The only channel where you don't have to sit through annoying, tedious, cringeworthy, retarded, adverts for people wanting to sort your PPI claim/injury/loan you money for 1000% interest per min.

It must survive in it's current format, it's far from perfect, but it's as British as roast beef and all the trimmings on a Sunday.

Too much sh*te like Strictly, Bake Off, East Enders and virtually all the output of BBC3 but ultimately worth it for 6Music, BBC2 & 4 and Radio 2 & 3. But it's not as innovative and daring as it used to be in terms of sitcoms and drama and it's far, far too top-heavy in management and its news coverage is so bland as to be virtually unwatchable.

On balance, though, I don't see the need to radically alter it or the way it's funded.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

I think you may be right on this subject Superfly. Whilst working for a shop fitting firm & working away from home I got a visit from the TV detector people my lodger answered the door. Anyway long story short a few weeks later I'm at the magistrates court and while waiting to go in front of the beak I asked a girl coming out of the courtroom what fine she got? 400 quid was her answer. f***ing Hell I thought so when I went in I pleaded guilty to everything with my excuse being that I was working away from home & didn't have time to set up a direct debit with the bank. I then threw my 'curveball' saying the only thing I didn't agree with was that I had a Black & White TV rather than a Colour one. I got fined 35 quid !!!!
