Benteke scored winning goals at Selhurst last 2 seasons. The one he scored for Villa was an excellent individual goal showing his strength, pace and finishing ability. He was the difference between the two sides on that day and it was no fluke. Very good player.

Apparently we offered batshuayi 110k per week if that's true that tells me beneteke will be on his way and that's according to SSN hope berahino comes as well now that would definitely be a strike force wow wow wow wow

I'd love to share your optimism. Unfortunately there is also every chance that he may not want to come to little Crystal Palace, like Batshuayl appears to not want to. Our awful run of form at the end of last season has made us look like relegation material again. Offering the fees and wages is only part of it. Getting the player to sign is another. Have to say I think the form at the end of the season is likely to be largely irrelevant. What may have an impact is the other signings we are seen as making. If we can get Mandanda over the line that would certainly help. Batshuayi rejected us because Chelsea came along, not because we couldn't convince him to join Palace. If it was a straight choice between playing in front of Wilf, Bolasie, and Puncheon, or Hazard, Oscar, and Willian, then I know what most sensible footballers would want to do. Similarly if interest from bigger clubs arises for Benteke then I think we will struggle. Juventus had shown an interest before - who would you want to play for? The one bad thing about the Batshuayi deal going public is that it shows other clubs that we are willing to spend a big wad of cash. I think Benteke could have been secured for significantly less than Liverpool paid for him, but if they know you're willing to pay >£30m for a player, then why not demand it? Edited by OknotOK (29 Jun 2016 2.54pm) Yep agree with your sentiments. I think that Batshuayi DID hold off on us but I think that's because he was anticipating Chelsea coming in. We surely must be getting a striker in if a:we're willing to spend THAT much b: we're willing to sell Gayle. I anticipate we may well get Benteke and Townsend... which I would NOT have said if the Cabaye deal hadn't come off last year. This seems promising to me. I defo think we need a CB though... probably more than a keeper (in case Dann or the aging Delaney come a cropper) Edited by ItsCPFCforme (29 Jun 2016 3.07pm)
