His now 8/11 now to join palace seems like a dead cert to join to ME reckon he will sign before spurs on Saturday would be great if he was to score the winner

You provide proof that it's not about money (it's about contract length) and then you say "it's about money." Doh. Obviously he wants an 18 month contract. I don't blame him. His issue is job security and reducing risk, not wages. On a 6 month contract he could come in, get injured and be unsignable in the summer. So quite understandably, he wants the contract to run a reasonable amount of time. For all you know, he may be willing to lower his salary demands for the longer contract. By all means slate Adebayor on past transgressions but try to be intelligent when commenting on the present situation.

Adebayor would definitely score goals for us him and CA up front could turn into the next wright @ bright I think he is worth the risk until the summer and see how it goes he would I don't think we will be paying his wages either spurs will be pay most of it so I would definitely think he is worth a go he might even score the goals to get us in to the top 6

That's the way it works. And in the end, when push comes to shove, one or other will get their way. What do you expect? Players to simply roll over when Palace make an offer and say "yes sir, no sir, three bags full sir." Would you take the first offer a prospective employer made? I know I wouldn't. There really is nothing unreasonable about asking for an 18 month contract and if Palace won't give him one, maybe somebody else will. At which point we'll either match it or lose him. Or somebody else might not make him an eighteen month offer in which case he'll sign with us. But he's got until the end of the month to get the best deal he can and he'd be a fool to settle for less until he has to.

In the football world where money is king, it feels wrong but i know we can't live in the past but my gut reminds me of Davids and also Brolin, when he got his contract extended he was quite frankly sh1t3 and i can't help feeling if we take Adabayor on a long contract we'll end up worse off, i don't want to end up like Portsmouth, is Adabayor the start of a slippery slope downwards, the unrest of the other players all wanting more money, future potential new signings expecting bigger wages. You want to end up like Portsmouth ?

You want to end up like Portsmouth ? I think you're mixing apples and oranges. Nowhere did I say that I thought we should sign Adebayor on an eighteen month contract; I simply pointed out that he was right to negotiate and go after what he wanted. After the negotiations are complete both parties will have a decision to make. As to whether, at that point, I would give him an eighteen month deal, it depends on a variety of factors entirely unrelated to Adebayor himself like who else is available? How much faith do we have in our present forwards starting to score? Are we prepared to wait for something better in the summer? How much will an eighteen momth deal cost us? Without knowing the answers to those questions, it's hard to give an informed opinion.

If I can handle Ben Arfa at Newcastle, I can handle Adebayor at Crystal Palace, says Alan Pardew ALAN Pardew says he could handle managing Emmanuel Adebayor if he decides to sign the 31-year-old striker. The former Tottenham man is one of several forwards Palace have eyed in terms of a move in the current transfer window. Of course, Adebayor is a free agent and has been training on his own with a view to landing a contract somewhere. Pardew admits the former Arsenal and Spurs man isn't as high up on the agenda as some may think – but Palace are certainly monitoring the situation. "For me, whenever Adebayor's played against my teams, he's been totally committed and he's been dangerous," said the boss. "You look at his clubs, and of course there's been a fallout at Spurs over whatever but he remains a player that can have a great impact. He's one of those players who would improve us. "I have had difficulty with players before, none more than Hatem Ben Arfa at Newcastle. If I can deal with him, I can deal with Adebayor, sure."
