Discussion about the competence of the government has become inconsequential.
Labour are moving so far to the left that they are becoming totally unelectable.

I hope that voters choose UKIP in large numbers at the next election and knock Corbyn's loons into third place obscurity.

So the choice is to be between the right wing or even more right wing nutters in power. Have you recently applied for American citizenship or contributed to a Donald Trump PAC?

I would take a move to the right over the ideological delusions of the left yes. However I would not describe the current government as right wing nutters. The Tory party are attempting to grab the middle ground if anything with Corbyn heading into la la land and UKIP sitting to the right.

No- the Tories are taking up a pretty strongly right wing position (deregulation and soft touch on big business and financial services, massive cuts to the welfare state, austerity etc) and claiming it is the new centre ground. Tories are at least as far right now as Labour is left. Middle ground is claimed by the current electoral insignificants- Lib Dems.

My view is never discuss politics in a pub or on a site like this as it will only end up in a slanging match between a few people whose ideals cannot be changed.

I see Osborne is pre-empting a probable new economic crash in the U.K by blaming everyone but himself, for instancve the China stock markets. This is fair enough, but if I remember rightly he blamed the last economic crash on Labour!

It's how you react to outside influences that is key to economic success as Chancellor.

Brown fcuked up a few times, the Gold sale is always trotted out, but valid. He decided to bail out the banks. He also borrowed at an alarming rate and paid over the odds for building new schools and hospitals, leaving the cash jar empty apart from a note saying it had all gone.

All Osborne is doing now is to correctly state that he will stick to austerity and not go on a spending spree (like Balls would have done) to see us through this global economic sh1tstorm that China are whipping up.

Not double standards at all.

Brown was an economic w*nker, Osborne is a shrewd prudent chancellor by comparison.

If that's the case then Tony Blair and Gordon Brown must be Tories as it was those two that insisted that the banking regulators operate with a soft touch thus allowing the growth of loans by the banks to extremely poor credit risks thus precipitating the banking collapse in this country

A heated debate and a few insults thrown is good for the spirit.

The are making cuts to the welfare state because it was rapidly heading out of control under Labour. Hardly a right wing policy. More a sensible one. Encouraging business to Britain is also hardly right wing.

Exactly.... we don't need Jamie or any other Mod to Block the thread either.

I like Kermy despite being directly opposed to him on many subjects.

If you think that's right wing, you better hope that I never get into power.
