Can anyone remember what we got for Grabban? Did he leave on a free or was it a fee?

Answer my own question got £150,000 for him, when sold to Millwall.

I know someone involved in transfer activity at Bournemouth but he doesn't give anything away ! All he said to me the other day was that he was on his way to see an agent but didn't divulge any name ! And I've known him for over 30 years !

I am informed that I know someone who knows someone who's involved in transfer activity. Oh, it's Willo...

Nothing like telling the truth.

An interesting way of looking at it is this.

We have three Premier League games and two FA Cup games in January. If we'd signed a top striker the day window opened for, say, 2 million more than he was worth (to tie up the deal quickly) it might be reasonable to assume that we'd get three extra points from those games (of course that's conjecture, but to make my point I have to do something) not to mention possibly another round in the Cup. Are those points worth .6 million each? Well, if at the end of the season they result in us finish two places higher in the table then we're in profit.

Not starting an argument or anything. Just trying to give a framework for evaluating the sense in doing what Bournemouth have done. I think it probably is worth spending a little more to do your business earlier in the window. Others may disagree.

I tend to agree, that was my point about getting them in early and playing. Grabban is a no brainer for me, the other two more risky but it's minimal when you look at the rewards.

I think all transfers are a gamble. So many fail to reach the standard hoped, so getting 3 in is spreading the risk, rather than assuming your first choice is nailed on to settle in. As mentioned, staying up is worth 17 mill (plus Iturbe).

I learnt these facts during Holloway's 'Scattergun' Period.

Bournemouth sold Grabban to Norwich for £3 Mill and have brought him back in a £7 Mill deal.

One of my best friends mum's works at Bournemouth.

She knows f*** all about their transfer activity. She has confirmed that Eddie is a very nice man though. He is polite and punctual.

You can share that anecdote at parties if you like WIllo.

You'd have to think Murray is now surplus to requirements given they signed Iturbe on top of those two. Yes, the money is insane but impressive how they've managed to bring their three main targets within the first few days of the window.

Looking at his stats and judging Grabban and Afobe on their recent form I cannot see a lot of goals coming from those 3. Good to do business early but if these are the only type of strikers available

Bournemouth have been very unlucky with transfers as their big money summer transfers Max Gradel and Tyrone Mings both received serious injuries soon after joining and are probably out for the season.

I expect that Bournemouth conducted their transfer activity early in the window leaving them enough time to buy another if history repeats itself
