I thought it was about weekend mortality rates - plus getting any kind of a rise during a period of austerity, albeit low inflation, when no other public sector employees are getting much of a rise, that must be something surely.

But the rise they are getting is purely a theoretical one. A rise in basic pay, with a huge cut in what is classified as unsocial working hours (for which they get overtime). I think the take-home is lower.

Self-enforced government austerity. The same lot that has said that "Britain needs a pay rise".

Similar could be said of a junior banker too, Their salary is not brilliant to start but rockets over time.

True but then they don't need to put in seven years at University/Medical school first and also they have a chance of massive bonuses later.

The junior doctors have already worked very hard to get to where they are even before they have officially started.

£23k is a total p1ss take. Unless they are working in Hull Infirmary. Must be a fortune in that city.

Probably the first strike I back. In my opinion NHS doctors should be one of the best paid job out there.

One of my good friends is a NHS doctor - 29 years old. We never see him socially as he works 13 hours a day, 6 days a week + on call through out the night for emergencies. When he's not working he's studying further (which is a requirement) which he has to fund himself. Him and his girlfriend, also a doctor are earning peanuts for the amount of work they do. They have had enough are about to move to Australia where they will get treated how they deserve.

The government need to be careful because I'm sure there are many like the above and and we could end up with no doctors. Also, where is the motivation for an aspiring doctor to slog through a medical degree to get treated like they do?

Tube drivers on the other hand can go f**k themselves.

I certainly do not believe the money grabbing Junior doctors seth with all this cr@p about patient care being their priority when its all about money. 90% of the young doctors will see an increase not a loss in their wage packets!!

That's my daughter you're talking about you pig-ignorant bellend. You clearly know the square root of f*ck all about this dispute so I suggest you keep your ill-informed and insulting views to yourself and go ram your tongue even further up Jeremy C*nt's ar*ehole.

Why would someone study for seven years knowing they are going to end up doing 65-70hrs weeks on the equivalent of £7 an hour or near enough if it was all about the money?

Answer that one and I will be genuinely impressed.
