Start playing two up front at home and give Hayle his real chance

Decent suggestion, wonder how he'd link up with wickham. Worth trying!

Two up front seems to be working ok for Watford. Wickham and gayle ? Wickham and bolasie? Having two up front does give up numbers in midfield though. And with us being a counter team with pacey wingers two options in the box could help.

Can't help but think that Rhodes is a stonewall buy for mid-lower Prem league club.

A club like us then?

SSN say that Blackburn want 12m for him. Not worth the risk at that money, not proven in the Prem and not exactly a regular scorer in the Championship. I'd be dissapointed if we got him.

If this did occur then I would think it would be a Gayle and cash deal. He was banded about in the summer so I think he is surplus to Pards requirements. If we decide on Adebayor on a short contract who will only be able to play 20 mins due to his fitness we will have more opportunities should things not work out for either in front of goal.

Blackburn have just announced a loan deal for Danny graham which may now pave the way for Rhodes to move on?
Id be happy with Rhodes for £6-8m, not £12m!

Just saw him in the sainsburys car park too!
Lets see...

To summarise what many have already said:

1. Rhodes has been scoring goals for fun in the Championship for years yet not a single Premier League team has come in for him. Why?

2. He played with Scott Dann for years yet Dann has clearly not recommended him strongly to Palace. Why?

3. He has no proven record of scoring at Premier League level at all. Therefore, he's not worth more than around 5 million (something like what we paid for Gayle, and look how that turned out) with a lot of incentive clauses pushing the value up if he delivers. But Blackburn won't accept that.

In short, 19 other teams don't think he's good enough. One of our best players appears not to think he's good enough. And he's overpriced. Move on.

A question of what we need and how much we are prepared to spend. Austin was a consistent championship scorer over a period of time, no on knew if he could do it in the premiership until he got there. I believe Rhodes is very similar, has scored goals at championship level for a long period. More importantly, his movement in the box, anticipation etc, is very similar to Austin, and as a box type striker there is every chance he could prove a good buy for a team taking a chance.
