To cut a long story short, an old pal of mine from college gets in touch with me a few months ago and tells me all about this matched betting malarky, how he's been doing it for 6 months and making a grand a month and sometimes more blah blah. I didn't really take any notice of it but I saw a discussion about it on another team's forum and some guys on it were making hundreds of pounds from doing it.

To my surprise I looked in to it and it is actually quite a clever way to make some guaranteed money from the online bookies bonuses.

The way he explained it was that it was just some sort of gambling but you can convert the bonuses in to risk free profit by laying the bets off on the betting exchanges.

I've only just started actually doing it properly just 2 weeks ago and I've not had loads of time to put in to it, but I joined a website for free at first and made 43 quid from the free offers after watching all the videos and learning it. It's not that complicated once you get going with it.

From reading the private forums for the paid members of the site, it seems there are guys who actually do it full time and make more than I make at my bloody day job. Suppose if you've got the time to do it then you can do all the offers every day.

I'm just planning to use it as a way to top up the wages every month. Or if I can put in an hour a day I reckon it'l be able to cover the rent, which would be a result.

Anyone else on here do it?

I'm not sure how you can make that much tbh. I suppose you can bet on one outcome in a match, use the matched bet on another outcome and lay the team in both of those on betfair. But that is not risk free.

Those for new customers are finite offers.

Ladbrokes regular offers only match an outright of 1/2 or more. Most of their fav's are less than 1/2.

Bet365 offer a large start of season bonus where they'll match soemthing like £600 over a few months and then you have to roll over etc.

Bet365 also have the £50 mathced bet every now and again for large tv games. Bet on 0.5+ goals and bet on the draw at 2/1 or more or 0-0 at 7/1 or a bit less and that's risk free. Or go for something else after using the real £50 on 0.5+ goalas as nearly all games are not 0-0 apart from manu v liverpool in Oct I think.

Yeah I also assumed the same thing but after having had a proper look around the site they have a section which is dedicated to 'reload' offers too.

These are the offers that the bookies provide daily where you can do more matched bets for extra profits. A lot of it comes down to time I believe, I can maybe put in 30 minutes a day maximum, but more on Saturdays. Saturdays seem to be the best reload days as you get lots of football and horses offers where you can bag a good profit from. With that amount of time I'm not going to be making mega from it, but it'll do for me.

One blog I read there was a guy who made over £30k from doing matched betting full time last year, from what I remember he did get some luck with big wins doing some risk free casino offers but suppose if you do enough of them they will come too.

I can't find the article just now but will post it when I find it.

***EDIT***

Found the article on the thread on the other team's forum:

After briefly reading through it again, he uses the same site for his offers as I do. It's quite a long read but worth getting through if you're interested in doing it as he explains it all quite well.

Bet365 get fed up quite quickly if you take the piss on the big match free bet offer.

They might do but they keep sending the emails for each promotion. What they have stopped is allowing you to phone in in-play. That cuts a few people doing it not interested or watching the match.

Bet you tenner it's not

My gambling these days is restricted - the great thing about internet betting is you don't have the embarrassment factor: I can pop on, have an ACCA and a couple of side bets, sometimes up to 30 bets in total (when I do an acca it tends to be 4 or 5 games, trebles and up), and when I place the bet it comes out at 2 or 3 quid! It's all about the self control.

I make money most years (start with a new account every season, and take the matched bets or new customer offers to start me off and get me in the black, and invariably stay there) - might only be 25 or 50 quid a year, but I do it for the fun, not the cash (which is the secret, otherwise you up your stakes to turn that 50 into 5,000, and then the numbers hurt when you lose)

What you have to remember that arbitraging free bets from the bookie is one thing, but most say if you win you have to turn the winnings over so many times before you can with draw it.
As for betting exchanges I have used them for years, but for every winner there is also a loser. For horses there are so many shrewdies that are in the know on Betfair you can easily come a cropper.

Article, blog post, same difference. The guy's blog is quite salesy but if you fast forward past the first review bit and read the updates then there is some useful stuff on there.

I've looked in to this a lot more over the weekend and the site he recommends in the blog post, which is the same site I use too, has got like 10,000+ paying members. So I doubt very much that it is a scam.

Anyway, makes no odds to me if you or anyone else don't want to do it. Just thought I'd share it with the forum and whoever wants to make a few quid extra every month can do.

The article looks like an affiliate site paid to recommend a site that charges for a service available on loads of sites completely free.

What I will say is matched betting is really really decent and quite easy... but you can learn how to do it for free.

[Link] - where I learnt how to do matched betting and do the welcome offers (free)

[Link] - best for the daily/reload offers once you get the hang of it (free)

Then if you want to go hammer and tongs and try a subscription site and earn over £500/month then either the one in the link above, profitaccumulator.co.uk or oddsmonkey.com are good (costs around £15/month more time consuming though)

Hope this helps anyone thinking of matched betting - highly recommend it!
