I was thinking the same... How's he got away with that belly?

Not really surprised.

He endured a torrid time but many might believe that he was brave in taking the job in the first place given that he had NO experience of managing a team, coupled with the fact he went abroad to manage a top side.

But in life you learn from your experiences and perhaps he feels that even though he had a "Rough ride" he can take some positives out of it.

Liked him as a player and equally as a pundit.
I never expected miracles but i thought he'd do better tbh.
Fairplay to him for giving it a go.

Time to move forward together.

Presume he thought he was a lot better than he proved to be, so he should have learnt something from the experience. Stick to the talking about it.

For a player who never played outside of the Premier League, a first management job abroad was always going to be tough. Especially as he can't speak Spanish. I was hoping he would be a success and encourage more English managers to coach abroad. I think it would give England a stronger pool of managers to pick from.

Hated him as a player. But i really warmed to him as a pundit, so was hoping he would succeed. The job was just to big for him, how can you take on a job in La Liga, as your first?? his best bet would of been to go in as a No2 there, especially as they are keeping his brother Phil on as the No2.
This will be a wake up call for the likes of Giggs and co!

Be interesting to see whether he takes another management job and how soon. For all his talk I'd expect him to give it another go otherwise it's admitting failure which doesn't seem to be in his blood. A lower league English club would let him cut his teeth properly with less pressure.
