I bet he has more frustrated young people out of work or earning very little one either what they accept doing or hate doing because they can’t get into what they’d prefer to do because they’re not cheap enough or can’t get the experience the cheaper EU labour have.

If we all lived in overcrowded houses or were here for a few years it would be great, but we’re not. This is our home and it has to work as a home. There are other ways to run a country and not this way. The longer this goes on the more difficult it is to reverse, relying on the immediate tax gain, at a cost to the longer term health and prosperity of the country and citizens.

Even more pubs closing is another downside.

Invite millions of more intelligent Mediterranean graduates tomorrow. The views would soon change.

I've said it before and I will say it again. We should import our politicians and civil servants from Eastern Europe. They're cheaper and will work harder. Let's see if the establishment is still as keen on open migration!

Becoming a vassal state of the EU is not leaving the EU.
May has embarrassed this country, hopefully she is finished & oddly I'm optimistic we'll get a proper brexit government & walk away from an EU desperate for more & more control.

This confuses me. Don’t you live in Slovakia now? What’s with the ‘me’?

Wouldn’t Brexit make your life much more complex?

Yes Maple, because it's always about an individual's self interest when it comes to the country isn't it.

I was rather more thinking take advantage of freedom of movement then shut the door behind you.

You talk like you won't be allowed to work in Europe or vice versa. It'll just go back to something like the previous situation.

How appropriate.

The Brexit thread hits page 1066

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

Unless you are one of these young people who demand the freedom as a right to live and work in Europe...... except they may find it rather harder to get a job there than they think, or certainly harder across the greater part of the EU based on these figure:-

It's almost like young people never travelled or worked in Europe before the EU existed. Oh but wait...!

I remember those days, I can only assume you do not.

Visas, long passport queues and most tricky of all currency controls. You could take limited cash with you

Getting to work was difficult and mostly those I remember doing so were au pairs.

As you will know, getting to work in the US for any prolonged period is tricky. Sure it can be done but not easily. Presumably it will be like that.

Firstly, technology has sped up everything we do in life since pre-1970s.

To visit the US for up to 3 months requires an ESTA which can be bought online and lasts for two years. Cost $14 I think. Not difficult.

Working in the US is trickier but so it should be. Apply online and then the only crappy bit was sitting in the US embassy for 2-3 hours to get approved which took 2 minutes. My media visa was for 5 years. Again, it's not a big deal. Does long queues at immigration put people off from visiting or working in the US? NO.

Me too, my memory of being a guest worker in West Germany was of interminable bureaucracy.

It took me months of trekking from office to office and while working night shifts.

You still have to satisfy the checks of the country you are going to, but FOM is simple compared to what existed previously and effective for the unemployed to move to high employment areas.

That is all it is, the market working.
