It is certainly 'interesting'.

But now we are truly into the Twilight Zone. May simply cannot get rid of this backstop from the agreement and cannot get it through Parliament.

Which means she has to go. Should have gone months ago but if the Tories leave her be for much longer then its all over bar the shouting.

But another referendum with a Remain option and I fear it is the end for the UK as we know it. Democracy simply has no more credibility anymore and as such, everything is up for grabs.

It scares me now. Not ashamed to write that because there could be some serious decisions to make in the coming few months that could have life changing outcomes. And that is not hyperbole because any serious attempt by Parliament to make us vote again on the Leave/Remain question brings everything I have been bought up to believe in with regards to how this country is meant to be run.

I voted on June 23rd in absolute good faith. I believed that the vote would be counted and the outcome acted upon. I was assured of that. Then, in the GE in 2017, the two main parties which obtained well over 80% of the vote both promised to honour the referendum vote.

If they renege on that, then why should I ever believe them again in terms of assurances that voting means anything?

Scary times.

Surely mrs may has played a blinder and knew this would happen.
Its out there now for all of europe to see that unless there are changes it will be a no deal bexit.
They dont want that so will i think definatley make the deal sweeter for the uk.
I know other countries want out and the eu dont want to make it easy or put them in a better place outside of the eu; but the uk is a huge player compared to most and each deal for each country can be a tailored fit.
May is harder than she is given credit for and has more balls than most of her male MPs.

What annoys me is most politicians know what they don't want i.e. May deal but what they do want is unacheiveable

At least May deal has a long term plan of transition period and we can move forward. No deal takes us nowhere and we would take an almighty financial hit, imagine the markets on 1st April? I reckon pound and USD would be 1 for 1, FTSE would be on it's knees. It would take many years to get it back.

I hope you are right but I doubt it. Mrs May doesn't need to remove the backstop she just need to get the EU to agree to a termination clause that can be activated by either side. The EU probably won't agree this as it is the key card for the future trade agreement.

I suspect that Mays May will come back with some form of non binding statement that they EU will play fair however this will not be enough for people who think this is a bad deal as it is not legally binding.

Anyway lets hope I am wrong.

I do not like living in an unelected bureaucratic, undemocratic old pals empire, it is time for us to walk away, Europe needs us more than we need them.
Go may and bring on Boris

The backstop is a side show. The whole deal is designed to be punitive to the UK and most of the evidence says a no deal would be more than manageable. We have protection of trade under WTO rules and non of the border issues are insurmountable. Only 2-3% of goods are checked anyway.

We should walk away but we won't.

More than that. An absolute mountain out of a molehill. Purely a technical issue about VAT. And the Eire/NI border is not frictionless as it stands. The Irish customs are all over people for a variety of reasons. Heating oil is the prime example with a whole slew of Customs experts all more than confident that a solution could be put in place in a relatively short time. As it stands almost all customs declarations are done electronically.

Also, less than half a percent of British exports actually cross there.
