We could test everybody but one of the main issues with creating larger poverty classes is in increasing the number of lower IQ people coming in...You end up increasing competition for the most vulnerable in society here...our own lower IQ, unlucky/disadvantaged or just lower skilled workers......that combined with coming from a culture that is significantly different just creates much harder problems. Rather having to deal with the inevitable grievance culture that springs from that....as we see on the 'Sterling' thread....we could just avoid it altogether....again, like the Japanese do.

Immigration policy is immigration policy.....I don't know the IQ of Sterling's parents, apparently his mother has a degree, so perhaps she would have got in. And if someone is of middle eastern heritage but born in France for instance? Would they be taking your test?

It's a good question.....I suppose if you're not European but just culturally European it's a harder aspect.....Perhaps everybody should be tested.....If you're number capping that's probably possible.

What you're suggesting is that it would be politically difficult. You know that if you were to state for instance that black people from France should be IQ tested before coming here and white people shouldn't, that you would be overstepping a line of decency that almost everyone adheres to and agrees with, however low a personal bar is set.

You know, it is amazing how the thick Africans somehow manage to do well when they get into the relatively level playing field of UK education. Who'da thought it. You choose to believe your theoretic IQ measures (not culturally, racially or in any other way biased) whilst the rest of us can live in the real world.

None of my ideas would be implemented of course, but if I were actually in charge of designing policy in this area with a realistic chance of enacting it....I would probably end up testing everybody. Essentially I'd look to help countries with problems without importing their problems into my own......but that concept was thrown out as some kind of 'evil' a long time ago. I think they got it seriously wrong following good intentions...but hey ho....Nothing can be done about it now.

But that's a lie and you are pushing it here..... what I believe isn't theoretic at all and the evidence for it is widely known. And oh dear....you're doing the 'IQ tests are biased' BS again. Edited by Stirlingsays (12 Dec 2018 4.02pm) I'd agree that being more selective about who comes into the country is a good thing, providing it is done simply on economic worth/potential eg. having a degree, or a specialism in an area that is under subscribed. However I'd be doing that purely on merit, not on race, nationality etc. as I cannot see the need to do so, especially as if such a qualification was ever brought in it would drastically reduce the amount of immigration anyway therefore vastly reducing any secondary cultural impact. If you're suggesting that genetics are almost solely responsible for intelligence, ie. the heritability argument, it is a blatant misrepresentation of the truth to suggest that this theory has scientific consensus. Heritability as a sole or main factor for the explanation of human traits was widely discredited 50 years ago.
