It's funny the number of times you and rolf accuse people of being returners. Hardly surprising I suppose given the number of people that have been red carded here for having the audacity to call you out on your unpleasant behaviour and you even more revolting beliefs. That and the mods willingness to oblige you by keeping the number of people with moderate views artificially low.

Actually I've only asked the one poster this......This chap.

And if it is WordUp I have no desire to see him go....despite our often heated battles. It was a question that was the extent of it.

Honestly you do get hot under the collar about nothing sometimes.

If you find my views revolting stop communicating with me.

I must be wordup because Gussett doesn't have a great ear for mid 80s R&B and funk. Plus I'm not so sad or mad as to log in to defend myself so I can't be steve1984.

Doesn't really matter what anyone thinks about that, as it's happening anyway. It's a natural consequence of their successful integration into the communities in which they live.

Which is exactly what will happen in due course with Britain's moslem community as well. More slowly perhaps but it'll happen nevertheless.

The Tommy Robinson brigade are just a tad too impatient and seem to think that people can arrive at Heathrow from the Yemen and jump straight into the pub with a copy of The Sun.

Not a solution as such, but rather an angle which with to reach certain people who are either overly enamoured with their own race, from black to white, or those who fail to relate to those of another race on a meaningful level due to their own mental blocks.

By no means am I suggesting that everyone should suddenly hook up with someone of a different race. I'm saying that logically race doesn't matter that much to a great many people and so there will naturally be more of a mix even within existing demographics. As I said, I couldn't care less if future immigration was cut to zero.

Your identity and emphasis in life is to a large extent what you make it. You seem to be eager to view your entire identity as something that is inevitably being washed away, is all but dead and gone, and that the country is s*** as consequence. It's your head that got you there, not someone elses genes, colour or newly minted citizenship.

Not a solution but an angle? Isn't this just using warm words?

You appear to be saying a qualified yes to not valuing the identities of others. Stating that race doesn't matter to a great many people is true. However the opposite is also true for identity to varying degrees (being English isn't exclusive to race). People are rarely concerned about something until they realise it's under threat and at the moment not many people realise....but then again most people rather foolishly put their faith in leaders who are meant to know what they are doing.

Well, yours is a well articulated post but I can't say I agree.....but that's ok....there's room for nihilists as well.

I imagine this is what the previously Christian countries in the middle east use to believe about their Islamic communities.....they would just integrate and everything would be fine.

Have you considered reality?

The red cards are normally warranted and usually because of frustration.

I have said on many occasions that I find the hectoring approach on the Politics threads a real problem. I don't mind too much because I have been around here a while and know a bit about the characters. But I simply can't imagine many people wanting to enter the fray, in Stirling's words they get rinsed.

I am sure there is a large silent majority as a result, which is a huge shame.

And goodness knows, there can't be many Muslims that would want to engage on this site. They get hit multiple times a day. For some reason every Muslim is labelled in the same way and accused of being a terrorist sympathiser and not doing enough to stop terrorism. Regardless of whether they are Sunni or Shi'a. And then they are told their religion doesn't align with life in the UK.

Then, bizarrely, they are told they don't integrate enough having just been directly vilified and ostracised.

So no, I don't think many Muslims will be joining in our discussions and therefore we won't be learning from them and using this site to develop friendships.

I dearly wish that at some point we could reverse this increasing trend and be inclusive but sadly this site is a sounding board for people that can't live with the way things change.

Anyway....there's been rather a lot of self indulgence here and while the conversational diversions were interesting...we really should get back to Brexit.

Especially since May leadership is currently being voted on.

Had you considered sticking to the point you originally made about Jews and the evidence I helpfully provided in the link?

Of course if you want to discuss Emperor Constantine and the Byzantine Empire then we could start a new thread.

I'm saying that it forms an aspect of how others view the world. Mixed race people are harder to stick labels on so can be easier to relate to for some with, shall we say, racial reservations.

I stated that race doesn't matter to a great deal of people for the purpose of saying that there being more mixed families in future is inevitable. If someone believes that there race is very important to them that's their choice. As long as they do not exhibit it in such a way that results in Raheem style situations and if they keep the sharp end of such beliefs from others - as in they do not try to steer their children away dating other races, then it has no real consequence to others lives.

You talk of something being lost or threatened. All I'm saying is that perception is reality and defending a depressing view of life isn't useful to a species that has succeeded through adaptation. How a person perceives their identity can pertain to any number of factors. Is the identity of someone that's mixed race any less relevant or important or rich to them as yours? Have they lost something? Would they be well served to feel that they have? Well no.

Interesting post with some interesting points...and lets let you have the last word on this and let the thread get back to Brexit.
