Look at crime in London, it's never been so bad!! I hope your enjoying the now, I prefurd the before I guess so did most who voted leave.

You only need to look at Hogarth's pictures, read some Dickens or take a look at the history of Australia to see that you're wrong. It's frequently been this bad if not worse.

PS is it only me who sees a wiggly red line under worms that I've misspelt?

And of course Rise in crime has nothing to do with the cuts in police numbers

I wonder if the tories will boost police numbers when the country is booming post Brexit? What do you think?

Bang on. And that's why I said that I don't blame foreigners.
Labour and conservatives have increased the population whilst not building houses, cutting police and having huge austerity.

So whilst we are not spending the money I don't more mass immigration or freedom of movement but rather controlled immigration.

I love Hogarth

Take a close look at the picture of Gin Lane it is horrific Hogarth was a satirist and was commenting on the evils of cheap gin. Beer street is the contrast sober and respectable people. The government eventually would tax cheap gin.

In an earlier post I joked that Brexit would never happen as MPs were being asked to cancel their holidays. Well some joke they are whining about it already:

[Link]

I appreciate that MPS especially from outside the south have to split their time between parliament and their constituency bu the amount of holiday they get is ridiculous. This all dates back to when MPs were farmers and country squires so the timetable was designed around the countryside.

Its time for politicians to embrace the technology and modern working practices that they keep forcing on the rest of us.

Last week the speaker announced a trial for proxy voting if you are pregnant. Good start but if have a terminal illness you still have to show up to vote. Another words a half baked solution.

MPs should be given some leeway to vote remotely from their constituency e.g. working from home, millions of us do this. MPs should also embrace technology so whilst they are in London they could hold video sessions with their constituencies. And finally they should look at re-doing the timetable taking into account the modern life MPs live.

As for their missing their ski holidays tough this is a matter of national importance. Just grow up most of us have had to cancel holidays because of some emergency in our work. If it costs them money I have no problem with them claiming that back on their expenses, they claim for everything else.

Stop complaining and get on with the job you are paid to do.

Is probably correct. However add to this the insistence of the PC brigade (Ms Abbott et al) in getting rid of the power to "stop and search", this surely would have helped quell the increasing gang related stabbings/moped thefts happening in London

Funny how the left are happy to compare the distant past when it comes to crime but object to it when it comes to poverty.

The crime wave is caused by immigration make no mistake.
Immigration always leads to increased crime and current immigration is at a staggering level.

No, it's not about the Tories. This is a pattern being repeated all over Europe.

Your helpful link is to an article about 20th Century crime.

Hogarth 1697-1764
Dickens 1812-1870
Australian penal colony 1787-1868

So you're wrong. HTH.

I voted remain, having said that, I do understand the concerns that the leavers had/have. This is the problem with the politics we have; It's a system that is too old that does not keep up with the times. I hate voting for parties, because, it eventually pisses off 50% of the population. I would prefer a system where the population can vote on policies rather than a board of politicians to carry out whatever they want or something along those lines.
This system has delivered a higher population, but with less law enforcement, NHS staff and below par education across the board, whilst the big companies and millionaires, legally, it must be said, don't pay their full % in taxes.

Funny how the right consider the 19th Century to be the distant past.
