If Japanese cars are uncompetitive in the UK with a 10% tariff it gives the Japanese government an extra incentive to agree a trade deal with us as no doubt Honda will be putting as much pressure on their own government as possible.

And if they don't do exactly as we demand, then we will send a gunboat...........

Is this another 'they need us more....' argument?

Is this same pressure the german car industry are (not) putting on their government?

Still don't understand why people would want to pay more for a car?

Nobody wants to pay more for a car but the UK is a big market for German, French and Japanese cars so the major car manufacturers will be putting pressure on their governments to do a deal with us to avoid having to pay 10% tariffs under WTO

Cars manufactured here will have a huge price advantage and that includes BMW owned Mini and Japanese owned Toyotas which are built here

Similar, but not the same or better.

So on this particular point...

Nothing to do with the decline of the high street and people's shopping habits

Brexit is a factor, as mentioned in the article. Whether you choose to deny it is your choice.

But remember 7,000 jobs, 600 new homes and much needed regeneration of Croydon is at risk. You voted to put that at risk, for nothing in return, except empty political slogans

Tell me then what brexit has to do with building a giant shopping mall?

Let's be honest here, huge retail SQ feet is old hat. I wouldn't invest in this brexit or no brexit. Below is what's happening in the USA and will happen here
